Just been watching a video of Lisbon trams and noticed that they Trolley poles and Pantographs on the same cars ( not used at same time) for power collection. 2 questions why have both fitted and is this unique?

Some sections of the No.28 route are too narrow to allow pantograph operation. Toronto also operates a mixture of the two, although they have modern LRV style trams with trolley poles!

They have a changeover point on the way up the hill. They use the trolley pole on the fairly steep uppermost section. I recall some sort of castle grounds/garden at the top. A shame there is nowhere left using conduit plough changeovers, or is there?
