So will these odd services definitely end after this or is there still a chance of the odd one past york after september

Nothing is Imposisble, how ever highly unlikely as nearest thunderbird would be Doncaster, so would me a big gamble to take North of York.

Plus more and more of the crew will lose competency so chances diminish of crew with traction knowledge

At a guess you would probably be lucky to get a working much beyond Christmas North of York if basing it on crew knowledge only as Newcastle and Edinburgh would have all gradually had their last booked crewing turns on hauled sets over the second half of the summer so anyone who doesn't get a go on one of these vice azuma turns will have to take the traction/stock off their competency soonish. Even now it seems you can go a week/few weeks at a time with none going north of York so I don't see many of the northerly crews staying fresh on them for long.

Both Edinburgh and Newcastle Thunderbirds were withdrawn today and moved to Tyne yard. No more 91s north of York. I'm 99% sure

The first withdrawal, 91 108 spent much of the summer visible in the wabtec siding behind doncaster station. Its now disappeared, does anyone know where it is now. It was partially dismantled and high on its springs so i doubt that it has moved to belmont yard with the other withdrawn 91s

is there a specific order that Class 91 diagrams run in? For example, will the diagram starting with 1A04 today (Tuesday) be the diagram starting with 1N80 tomorrow (Wednesday)?

14 more coaches have recently been earmarked for cutting up at Sims Metals sites in Hull; 5 of these (listed below) have already gone.

12402 & 11402 (ex-BN02)
12401 & 11277 (ex-BN03)
11280 (ex-BN07)

Does anyone have a full list of what's been scrapped now? It's a while since the last one was posted. Thanks.

I've recently heard rumours that the 91's may not be staying with LNER after all. I don't know any more detail than that because there was a post on the Facebook group that said nothing was finalised yet but it did suggest that there could be some truth in this.

Does anyone know any more details as I know what I have is not really much.

The 91s/Mk4s are moving to Neville Hill (from Bounds Green) from mid-Jan 2021. All sets will be taken out of traffic for loco overhaul during that time too.

Oh right OK so it's not a permenant withdrawal then, that's good! Wonder how long that will take to overhaul them.

I suspect it may become a permanent thing, likely that LNER will decide it can make do without them and they’ll just have a shorter journey to make to Booths.

That's 91 108, the first one withdrawn, it's nose panels were removed to repair another class member some months ago

The current plan is for them to stay (after a period where there may not be any 91 diagrams while the remaining fleet is being overhauled); anything else is speculation and you are more than welcome to create a thread in Speculative Ideas :)

Why are they going to pull them all at once? They are unlikely to be actually overhauling all of them at the same time due to works capacity.

Maintaining at Neville Hill is a slightly curious one as with EMR HSTs being withdrawn from May 2021 throws up capacity there obviously but I thought this was tied up with EMR leaving Neville Hill and Northern expanding there.

I don't have that level of detail, but my source is very reliable!

Seems very unrailwaylike to stand down the remaining fleet for a period for overhauls. I'd wager that Neville Hill would be unlikely to tackle more that one or two locos at a time, so may as well keep the rest of the fleet at work, and rotate - obviously with correspondingly fewer diagrams during the overhaul period. That would keep the fleet active and maintain crew competencies.

Only my opinion though.
