If you are still at Crewe then try walking round to the other end of the DRS depot.
Directions.
Assuming you are walking from the station towards the DRS depot. Turn left out of the station and left again into Gresty Road. Just before the DRS depot turn right (so before going under the railway) onto a residential road - Davenport Road iirc. Keep left into another road and look for a pathway (down hill) back towards the railway. That path goes over a stream and then ends up crossing the railway iirc. Approaching the railway there is a fiald on the left side. There are gaps in the hedge (across a drainage ditch/stream and bank) into the field that is fairly small. Wander around in the field and you will see the locos at the West end of the DRS depot. MUDDY !.

Thanks for the help. I had left Crewe by the time I saw this as with so many cancellations due to the weather I decided to head off and get ahead of all the football supporters filling the limited trains in the evening. I will note this for future reference though.

Maybe 5C65 was turned round at Newton Abbot and sent straight back to Plymouth. I’m only surmising there though
