I checked the guidelines too. It does appear to only be a recommendation. I'll be in Manchester/Sheffield on Sunday and provide a trip report for those who choose to stay at home.

Trentbarton Comet B7RLE 747 has now been de-branded so it appears that the comet will remain hourly for the foreseeable future.

I assume that this is the same site proposed by Wellglade last year ?
Yes I think so. I remember hearing rumours about a new Stores Road depot in 2017, when photos were going round of the Skylink Nottingham Scanias being stored there

Also the same site which they evacuated all the buses too when Meadow Road was partially flooded almost 12 months ago to the day...

Trent Barton’s init machines have finally gone, though so has on-board and stop-based real time information (which hasn’t worked on rainbow one since the Enviro200 launch, so was clearly a known problem). Dwell times have also increased massively with the mango app which seems to be relatively unreliable and require repeated logging in. It’s been drawing the ire of many on Facebook and Twitter, particularly when their social media team were posting jaunty graphics of ‘things to use your old mango card for’.

747 is on the villager today, mostly debranded but still with ‘Chesterfield’ vinyls on the nearside. Interesting as using a vehicle in another route’s livery would have been unthinkable in the Alex Hornby days.

And not just dwell times caused by mango app users - but also by those of us who are now paying cash - and I must admit my usage of buses has dropped tremendously with the disappearance of the mango card - to the extent that I walked the 5.5 miles to work yesterday in 80minutes - can take anything from 30-60minutes by 2 buses plus a 10-15minute walk at the far end. Cycling this winter unless I need to carry shopping back.

It is a known problem with the tracking as they have tweeted about the issue on Monday. So far the app has worked perfectly for me but then again I have only moved the card onto the app so far...

747 is now a 'spare' so can turn up anywhere and with it being de-branded I don't think it will be to much of an issue. There seems to be a few school duplicates around like on the villager and I think some Sutton routes so it is just a easy way of crating another spare bus. You may find that it is only temporary and 747 may go back to being branded once the route goes back to every 30 min or when school duplicates are no longer needed.

According to the Derby Bus Depot forum some of the former rainbow one versa's have started to appear from Langley Mill in sixes livery so they could be on the road shortly.

The Christmas times have also been published on the trentbarton/kinchbus websites. Unlike previous years of a mostly Sunday service on Boxing Day only the Skylink Nottingam and Derby will be running this year.

You also had the Club Class coach which did a daily return trip to Ruddington (and a return trip to Leicester at one point): https://www.flickr.com/photos/97278381@N06/9017637484

And just for the hell of it, that same Dart on the Club Class service: https://www.flickr.com/photos/mattburley0/12910996114/

Wellglade:
The 11 Kinch skylink Citaros have departed to McGills. Apparently one broke down and recovered back to Nottingham for attention.

5 Versas now in use on sixes 836/7, 842/3/5. 10 required for sixes, with the rest spare, expected to replace spare Scanias.

656 sold for preservation. Former sixes 657 now debranded and based at Nottingham as spare bus in its place. The i4 requires an extra bus on schooldays. The dupe runs Nottingham to Risley just after 7am. Keyworth connection currently has a PVR of 3, and as 4 buses are branded one of these is used occasionally (or anything spare).

659 (debranded sixes) and 735 (back in mango livery with branding) are now based at Sutton as extra buses for dupes (one on threes one on nines). 659 has been on nines all day on occasions.

747 is spare at Derby (unbranded comet). Generally does Villager dupe, and anything else before after and in between.

Tempos may now be off at Kinch. They were using them on the university services at one point to help maintain social distancing. They were advertised for sale along with the Citaros and sixes Scanias (or perhaps any Scania) a few months ago.

Apparently the council wants to move NCTs Lower Parliament Street depot to an out of centre site so it can be redeveloped to serve Motorpoint arena.
Gotham depot is also closing to save costs.
Maybe this will end up in a one massive site to encompass Gotham, Lower Parliament Street and Trent Bridge depots

Hasn't that been on the cards for years? The former college site on Carlton Road was the last proposal.

Have Hulleys got two double deckers now or have they replaced/got a loan to cover the other?

There has been a bit of a worse for wear white livered double decker bus running on the X70 this week that was obviously previously red judging by the chipped paint, it's a far cry visually from the now other normal decker on the X70

On Monday Notts & Derby Buses suspended routes 17, 17A, 50, 73 & D1 (leaving Aston & Weston on Trent with no services whatsoever). They also reduced the frequency of the weekday 71 & 72 and axed the Saturday 71/72 service.
From this weekend Hulleys are suspendng their Sunday services, as well as the X56, the X70 and combining the 171 & 172 into one route. Revised timetables on the 170 & 172, Minor last journey changes on the X57 & 257.

Some reductions this weekend for Arriva in Derby which most services running a reduced frequency off peak and on Saturdays. Evening services have also seen a cut with no Sunday evening services from around 1830/1900.

The Arriva website also shows that only the 1A and 5A running and no service on the 1 & 5. Looking at the bus times map and timetable both seem to be running today!

At least so far this time Trent Barton only seem to be reducing the frequencies on some of their more frequent routes. During the first lockdown they completely suspended some of the less frequent services which serve many villages which left some places without buses for weeks. I know of a couple of hospital workers who work at Nottingham City Hospital who really struggled to get to work when the 141 didn’t run for weeks.

In the first lockdown, initially they weren't getting any extra support.

Derbyshire had a good covering of show today with most roads coverd by mid afternoon. This lead to Trentbarton, kinchbus and Arriva suspending services at around 1600. The worst delay was the 7 which left the city centre at around 1415 and arrived at Sinfin ASDA at 1940 some 5 hours late. Most other buses terminated short or completed there service they were on with smaller delays.

Traffic was terrible in Nottingham too.

Yesterday's snow was a bit pathetic but the Rushcliffe Villager and the sixes were suspended

Had a walk up to the a50 bridge earlier and it was down to 1 lane and everything going along at 30 to 40 mph. The snow plough came through the village as well.

Had a few inches I'd say in South Derbyshire. Started around 1030 and didn't stop until late afternoon/early evening.

There was a breakdown at J24 on the M1 too. The situation reminded me of the day they closed Clifton Bridge and it snowed, brought the city to a standstill.
I'd say we had a few inches here in Nottingham

Nottingham City Council have a consultation on linkbus services. Proposal sees withdrawal of L1, L9, L10, L11 & L12. L2 diverted in Wollaton to replace L10. Full details here: https://www.transportnottingham.com/consultations/changes-to-linkbus-services/

Nottingham City Council’s Linkbus network provides important connections to residents living or working in areas where commercial bus routes are not viable.

The council is facing very serious budget challenges, and is having to make some extremely difficult decisions on the services we provide. This includes a proposal to reduce funding for our Linkbus services.

We are proposing to limit the effect on services through timetable changes, diversions on existing services, and withdrawing services where journeys can be made by another operator. This way we can ensure we continue to provide services to the city and district centres for people living more than 400m away from a commercial bus or tram stop.

A public consultation will run from Friday 22 January until Sunday 21 February, following which a final decision will be made in March.

Specific proposals for each service are outlined below.

Proposed changes

L2 City – Nottingham Business Park (Strelley) – continued with many journeys diverting through sections of the withdrawn L10 route in Wollaton. The service would continue to operate half-hourly during peak, and reduce to hourly services in the off-peak.

L4 City – Beechdale – Aspley – to remain hourly. This service also serves the Beechdale and Upper Beechddale areas when the L11 is withdrawn, and the Radford area where the L12 will be withdrawn.

L5 City – Wollaton Park Estate – No change

L14 City – Heathfield – Bulwell – to continue operating at current levels, with some timetable changes. Serves the key areas around Perry Road, where the L12 will be withdrawn.

W1 City – Castle Marina – Lenton Lane Industrial Area – Slight timetable amendments in the evening peak, no reduction in service.

Medilink – Service to be maintained.

Proposed services to be withdrawn

L1 City – Wilford Village – Silverdale Estate – CT4N Ltd provides an hourly commercial bus service (22 and 23) in this area.

The commercial service does not provide a direct link to the city centre, but interchange with frequent buses and trams will be available. The commercial route also serves Clifton, West Bridgford, Ruddingon and Gamston shopping centres

L9 City – Mapperley – Sherwood – Arnold – Bestwood Park – The two largest key areas (Edwards Lane Estate and Winchester Court/Woodthorpe Court) served by NCT 40 every 30 minutes. We are looking at low cost options for those parts of the L9 at Mildenhall Crescent and Sherwood Vale that are beyond 400m of another bus service.

L10 City – Wollaton – Beeston – Key areas will be served hourly by a diverted L2 route. No areas unserved.

L11 Beeston – Beechdale – Bulwell – Key areas will continue to be served by the L4 route. Most facilities will still be available on the L4 route or through interchange with other frequent services.

L12 University of Nottingham – QMC – Hyson Green – City Hospital – Many sections are served by other routes – the L4 in Radford and the L14 in Perry Road. The withdrawal of this service will result in the loss of direct services to the University and QMC, but facilities are available by interchange between frequent services.

Have your say

If you have any comments on these changes, please let us know by Sunday 21 February by emailing [email protected]

Just out of interest, what happened to the S-series "Shoplink" routes in Nottingham. Do they still run?
