Have any more of the TfW 143s gone for scrap yet? So far I’ve only seen 605 head off to Newport to meet its demise

Of the 15 TfW Class 143's, 8 have been preserved.

The remaining 7 have already been scrapped at Newport: 604, 605, 608, 609, 610, 614 & 624

Don’t think Tom Jones will be happy with 609 being scrapped haha. Though it is good to see several of the 143s preserved :)

I saw 143601 and 143616 at Landore on the 30/6/21 at 09:57, and 143616 even had its engines running. Does anyone know what the situation is with them...?

They were being fuelled and then moved to the despatch road, ready for transfer (by road) to their new home.

From the list i’m looking at right now, none will meet their end any time soon.
The one currently at the East Lancs (144009) is apparently destined for Greater Manchester Fire Service. I don't think anything has come back from what Fire Brigades tend to do to them!

It has the most hope out of the whole pacer fleet…
Based on what? It hasn't been purchased yet unlike most of its sister units, and the PRM status is largely irrelevant to preserved lines (rightly or wrongly). It's also non-standard, and most preserved lines don't have toilet tanking facilities, if any do.

Other than possibly Vintage Trains taking it so they can advertise their mainline services as accessible (something that would actually be a positive, as the lack of accessibility is a rather glaring failing of the preservation scene at present), I don't think it has much potential.

As above. 143 616 went out first to Tanat Valley.

55682 left Landore on 05th July and 55657 left on 06th July.

143 601 has also left with 55667 leaving on the 8th July and 55642 last night.

Carriage 55824 from 144001 is back at Huddersfield station for attempt number 2 at offloading it for use by the Platform 1 charity.

Anyone know where 55801 went to?

My response was more aimed at none of them being scrapped by porterbrook. All have been sold on.
It hasn't been purchased yet
I can confirm a sale has been made on the unit. I am not sure weather the information I was given is to be kept private or not but it’s owner has big plans for it.
Vintage Trains
for certain, no. You’re completely barking up the wrong tree there. It’s PRM bog and ironing board seats aren’t being kept to my knowledge so everyone can stop worrying about that.

Is still at worksop. Is destined for The Airedale Hospital.

I presume 143601 was the first of the class, and I'm therefore pleased to see that it has been preserved; the 143s were BR's first choice, and the 142s were only procured because Alexander/Barclay couldn't build any more in the time required

I was responding to the recurring suggestion that the PRM status would mean it would be in high demand. Mention of Vintage Trains was my speculation of the only situation I could see where the PRM mods would be a positive rather than a negative. If as you say the big toilet is being removed, this supports my suggestion that the PRM loo (and the associated waste tank) would be more trouble than it's worth for most heritage groups.

If you know where it's going then that's great, I'm intrigued as to what these "big plans" are. Presumably something other than the usual low-season cover on a heritage line?
