Since we have been locked out of the TFW stock shortages thread I thought we might continue discussion of this on here and follow developments.
Sounds good. Last thing posted on the old thread was that "we reckon that 153309 has gone to Canton and 153314 and 153322 have gone on to Landore". Hopefully this gets confirmed soon.
Thanks for the info. You posted whilst I was in the process of composing my second post.Correct. 153309 detached at Cardiff Central and went on own to Canton. Possibly workload arrangements.
So far TFW has received 5 ex GWR 153's, 5 (I might need correcting there) ex GA 170's and today 3 ex GA 153's went to Landore for dilapidation repairs before being handed to TFW. Tomorrow the final two ex GA 153's are due to move to Landore. I attach a link shared previously shared so those with an interest can follow this move. Future moves can then be posted and discussed here as and when they happen or are planned; https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/K05656/2019-12-03/detailed
2 x ex GA went to Landore and the other to Canton

It’s the 2nd or 3rd TFW stock shortage thread to be locked, perhaps one of the mods doesn’t like the welsh (I joke)Why was the previous thread locked? I can't see any explanation for it.

It’s good to see more units arriving though!just need the 230s now
Realistically, whilst the pacers are indeed, horrific, 153s are not exactly an upgrade.
What is the thinking behind hiring such antiqued stock? Was there no way of buying new stock instead in franchise or was the bid selection poor?

148 brand new trains have been ordered (and their TOPS classes were revealed today). Only the 170s, Mark 4s and 230s will stay alongside them long term. TfW are doing everything they can to get extra capacity in the shorter term.Realistically, whilst the pacers are indeed, horrific, 153s are not exactly an upgrade.

Thanks for the infoThe 153 move from Norwich today left Right Time
Are the five Angel 153s staying with TfW or being replaced by the Porterbrook owned ones which have/are coming from GWR and AGA? Notable it is just Porterbrook ones which are going to Long Marston for PRM mods.
They moved on April Fool's Day actuallyAs long as required and in addition to the GWR ones which transferred at the end of March.
5 of the 153s were planned, but any further ones weren'tThey weren’t planned, but are a stopgap given the non arrival of the 769s.

Thanks, but I was referring to the original planThe additional ones were offered by Porterbrook to compensate for their failure to produce the 769s.
that makes sense "getting away" with non-PRM compliance for short-term use, or something!According to Modern Railways this month, any extra 153s TfW recieve to compensate for the lack of 769s will not be PRM modified and are being put straight into service, as these 153s are expected to be withdrawn as soon as the 769s are in service, so could only be in Wales a few months
