Very good - i thought Clapham Junction might catch you out !

FRIDAY 30 NOVEMBER

This game is called "the show must go on"

American cities are frequently used in song-titles and they seem just fine.
By the time i get to Pheonix.
Is this the way to Amarillo?
Twenty-four hours from Tulsa.

It’s not so common in Britain
Twenty-four hours from Tulse Hill doesn’t quite have the same ring to it

But here are a few and hopefully you can come up with lots more
I’ve put a line of the song and XXXed out the name of the town so you can insert the three letter station code

1) Are you goin’ to XXX fair?
2) I’ve got to leave old XXX town
3) XXX cathedral, you’re bringing me down
4) On XXX moor baht ‘at
5) I’ll be your long haired lover from XXX
6) Well i’ve been working hard to reach me target, to earn a few bob for a day trip down to XXX
7) My little stick of XXX rock
8) There’ll be bluebirds over the white cliffs of XXX
9) I belong to XXX, dear old XXX town
10) He’s the bloke who offered me a lift to XXX airport

2) Durham
3)
4)
5)
6) Margate
7) Blackpool
8) Dover
9) Glasgow
10)

So quite a few blanks - and I'm supposed to be a music student!

:oops:

Sorry for any confusion

Any station code for the correct town will do eg BPN, DVP, GLC etc

And if anyone already thought of "twenty four hours from Tulse Hill" sorry for unintended breach of copyright

Here is the solution:

1) Are you goin’ to SCA fair? (Scarborough)
2) I’ve got to leave old DHM town (Durham)
3) WIN cathedral, you’re bringing me down (Winchester)
4) On ILK moor baht ‘at (Ilkley)
5) I’ll be your long haired lover from LIV (Liverpool - Lime Street)
6) Well i’ve been working hard to reach me target, to earn a few bob for a day trip down to MAR (Margate)
7) My little stick of BPN rock (Blackpool - North)
8) There’ll be bluebirds over the white cliffs of DVP (Dover - Priory)
9) I belong to GLC, dear old GLC town (Glasgow - Central)
10) He’s the bloke who offered me a lift to LTN airport (Luton - Airport Parkway)

TUESDAY 04 DECEMBER

This game is called: "say my name" (with acknowledgements to Destiny's Child)

The top list is ten first names
The bottom list is ten station codes

Burt
Eric
Leslie

Max
Mick
Rod
Ron
Susannah

CPT
ELY
GRA
HGS
HKN
HNC
HUL
LAN

YRK

THURSDAY 06 DECEMBER

Here is the solution:

Abraham LCN Lincoln
Burt LAN Lancaster
Eric CPT Clapton
Leslie GRA Grantham
Lewis HNC Hamilton Central
Max HGS Hastings
Mick HKN Hucknall
Rod HUL Hull
Ron ELY
Susannah YRK

FRIDAY 07 DECEMBER

Here are the southeastern departures from Victoria (between 1100 and 1159 on 10/12/12)

xx07 AFK

xx25 ORP
xx37 AFK

ARM = Armadale (West Lothian).
BHG = Bathgate.
BSV = Buckshaw Parkway.
CAC = Caldercruix.
DLJ = Dalston Junction.
DRU = Drumgelloch.
FGW = Fishguard & Goodwick.
HGG = Haggerston.
HOX = Hoxton.
SIA = Southend Airport.

Common link is they've all been opened in the post-privatisation era? (Although Bathgate and Drumgelloch were effectively replacements for stations which had the same names which were presumably needed because the track needed to be realigned when the A-B link opened...)
