Hi,

To the previous part of the series:
Regional Rail Express - 43: Citadella II (50 p.)

August 18 2004

I got off at Hajdina halt as first stop on my first visit of the line.
IC 517 "Mura" Murska Sobota - Ljubljana approached glinting in the morning light.

From the bridge ramp of road 710 you can get this view of Ptuj castle on the other side of Drava river.

Current pics of Drava bridge including drone footage by Miško:

Twenty minutes later, 664-101 thundered past the bridge hauling freight from Pragersko.
heck4403.jpg

My local DMU to Ormož.
heck4404.jpg

Crossing locals at Ptuj, Drava bridge in the background.

Photo run-past during the "Slovenian Španka" tour.

The "šef postaje" looking on.

August 18 2004

Old flair on board of "Citadella" in the evening.
heck4408.jpg

At half past six in the morning of the same day, the engineer of my train waited for an approaching DMU at the first station from Pragersko, Kidričevo (in German):

heck4410.jpg

Due to the "exotic" German-style semaphore signals once a favorite spot of rail photographers.

October 12 2006

It also was the first stop in the morning before seven o'clock on our fall tour 2006. The moon shone through the ground fog.
heck4412.jpg

The gurgling "Reagan" sound became louder and louder, then the headlight beam pierced through the darkness - still one of the best railroad scenes I have ever experienced:

heck4413.jpg

Kidričevo station features a larger yard as it connects to a neighboring aluminum plant with its own switcher engines.

Local from Pragersko.

July 18 2007

I had spent a short night on rails going back and forth on the mainline, then decided to walk from Pragersko to Šikole halt still in darkness due to lack of early morning locals. 664-105 overtook me at 5 a.m. with the first freight of the day.
heck4418.jpg

heck4419.jpg

Commuter trains towards Pragersko: local Središče - Maribor at 5:30 a.m.
heck4420.jpg

heck4421.jpg

A light on the horizon ten minutes later.
heck4422.jpg

heck4423.jpg

664-110 at sunrise.
heck4424.jpg

IC 519 "Ptuj" Hodoš - Ljubljana, traveling one hour ahead of "Mura".
heck4425.jpg

heck4426.jpg

664-105 returned.
heck4427.jpg

heck4428.jpg

My local at 6:20 a.m., luckily I had escaped the mafija... ;)
heck4429.jpg

Crossing again at Kidričevo.
heck4430.jpg

This scene looked quite different than just nine months before.
The final product:

heck4431.jpg

heck4432.jpg

Oh well, semaphore signals still were operational, so I moved to the Ptuj end of the station for slightly delayed IC 517 "Mura".
heck4433.jpg

Freight kept rolling from Pragersko.
heck4434.jpg

I caught 664-105 for the third time that day at 8:42 a.m.
heck4435.jpg

713/715-101 (MBB Donauwörth / TVT Boris Kidrič Maribor, built in 1983) approaching from Ptuj.
heck4436.jpg

1 1/2 hours late, but gladly waiting for it: 664-101 hauling IC 247 "Citadella" Ljubljana - Budapest. The GM-soundtrack for this scene:

heck4437.jpg

heck4438.jpg

Walking through the village.
heck4439.jpg

Switching to the aluminum plant.
heck4440.jpg

A proper good-bye by "Roni-Reagan".
heck4441.jpg

June 21 2009

I stayed for the next day after riding on the "Slovenian Španka" tour. IC 247 "Citadella" passed the electrified track triangle of Pragersko.
heck4442.jpg

heck4443.jpg

heck4444.jpg

A peculiar local train followed from Maribor after noon.
heck4445.jpg

No DMU...
heck4446.jpg

So, 664-113 arrived on one leg of the track triangle, reversed on the other into Pragersko station...
heck4447.jpg

... and accelerated towards Ptuj six minutes later - ingenious!
heck4448.jpg

One hour later, I had pre-ordered smoke on the mainline... diesel scenes of the day on video:

Next time, we will explore more of Pragersko and along the historic Southern Railway.
