I get free travel being a retired so and so , and today we attended a modest function in Blackheath for an 1830 start.
Thameslink running only into St Pancras - and Blackfriars /CX and Cannot Street shut - so got the 1633 12 car - nicely loaded and checked in the tunnel for a while but OK - busy Victoria line , and the 1734 off Victoria via Denmark Hill - first stop Lewisham - was actually dreading this bit as it was a Gillingham service and expected to be wedged. It was not and a bit of a "stop at every junction" due to pathing etc.
Back on the 2027 off Blackheath - a doddle with no doubt one of Bromley Boys mates at the helm ---almost empty and a cracking run onto the now slightly less busy Victoria line and a journey time -including walking of about 2 hours.
For a Cross London journey - pretty good , and even better when the much expected London Bridge works are completed. So a big "thank you" to the Saturday evening PM shift for a faultless journey with chunks of goodwill evident pretty well everywhere. Londoners do occassionally talk at Xmas !
