After the success of last year's runs, they will now be repeated between Hammersmith (H&C) & Moorgate on consecutive Saturdays in August, followed by a weekend takeover of the Chesham Branch.

"The Bluebell's Ashbury set will return in August 2014 for the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Hammersmith & City line's opening in 1864. Met no.1, the milk van, carriage 353 and the Bluebell rake will run on two Saturdays, 2nd and 9th August, from Hammersmith into Moorgate and back"

"The following weekend, 16th and 17th August, steam will take over the Chesham branch for the first time since 1962. Steam services will run from Rickmansworth, with the replacement bus service for the branch being complimented by a heritage bus service"

I did Amersham - Harrrow on the Hill last year & also the trip down to Uxbridge from Harrow on the Hill. Both events will organised & supported. No reason to believe the same won't apply to these trips too. Am I right in thinking the Hammersmith - Moorgate trip will be the longer run of the two?

Tickets rarely appear on the LT Museum website for such trips until around a month in advance.

As it's a much lower key event I doubt there will be the several months in advance as there were for the January 2013 steam trips, and instead tickets will be released in line with the Amersham and Uxbridge trips (as I say, around a month beforehand).

Additionally the Museum normally posts a few days in advance to say when they're going on sale - I'm sure this will appear here.

Jack

I'm tempted to do the Sunday morning train up to Rickmansworth. Does anyone know if normal service will be running back from there into town?

(Removed - either I misread the works schedule or the works have been cancelled. No service Amersham-Chesham, RRB operates.)

Lovely video, thanks for posting the link.

Pity about all the HiVis vests on the locos - I can't see that it is likely that any tube trains will jump out of the tunnels and attack the drivers!

thanks - i couldnt afford the trip last weekend but may have a look at the Chesham runs.

Indeed - if anyone is unaware next weekend (16th and 17th) will see the Rickmansworth-Chesham runs take place with the Chesham set with steam in both directions hauled by Met No1 and L150. Hopefully the run from Wembley Park and the return to Harrow should provide an opportunity to see the vintage train at speed on the Met.

Are there still tickets available?

Tickets are available for all runs on the day. They must be bought thirty minutes prior to departure from Rickmansworth (Wembkey for Journey 1) and only cash is accepted.

I'll be out and about photographing over the weekend. So if you see me please say Hi! Blue waterproof if wet, or a red hoodie if dry.
