I would assume they'll be repainted by whichever contractor does the refurbishment. Now the 458 stock is being retained how much extra time will SWR need to complete the repaints which seems to be progressively slow
Updated list - 16/04/21U.444025 is off its repaint today and the diagram its on ends at Northam Depot this morning (with 444032).
U.444043 is at Bournemouth Depot - believe it is next in line for a repaint.
Considering that in running the franchise for over 3 & 1/2 years, SWR has managed to repaint just over half the 444s, one-seventh of the 450s, and (AFAIK) none of the 455s, 456s, or 458s, I don't think that any fans of the Stagecoach livery need to rush too much .Catch them whilst you can...
It's just an unfortunate (in the circumstances) coincidence that the in-house team at Bournemouth won the contract to do the repaints not long before Covid struck. As I recall they could not get up to speed immediately because of the need to use 444s and 450s to cover for the 442s.Considering that in running the franchise for over 3 & 1/2 years, SWR has managed to repaint just over half the 444s, one-seventh of the 450s, and (AFAIK) none of the 455s, 456s, or 458s, I don't think that any fans of the Stagecoach livery need to rush too much .
Meanwhile, of the replacement fleets being introduced in SWR livery, the 442s are abandoned and presumably going for scrap, and both the 484s and the 701s are delayed with no reliable timescale currently announced for their introduction.
It's a pretty dismal performance, though of course that's no surprise where SWR are concerned.
Better than the dull looking vinyled striped version some of the diesel fleet is inI agree the SWR livery is very nice, it has a very contemporary look to it and looks a lot better than the now worn-out SWT livery
I always look out for 450041…It failed on me once...U.450024 off its repaint yesterday and changed over with the crew training unit U.450041 in platform 1 at Bournemouth and went Ecs to
Northam Depot for exam.
U.450041 believed to be next repaint unit.
I suspect if there were all to have the original livery with stripes, they would have probably had a plain grey undercoat (painted). With striped Vinyls over the top. A bit like the LNR livery on 350/1 fleet.Did SWR originally intend to paint the stripes on?
