What will this involve?
There’s fairly minor changes to the first/standard seat numbers:

Class 158 - 112s 13f now
Class 158 - 122s 12f after

Class 159 all - 174s 23f now
Class 159/0 - 186s 24f after
Class 159/1 - 192s 12f after

I don’t know why 159/0 and 159/1 become somewhat different, but that’s how the franchise agreement reads. It could involve changing First to 2+2 like the 444s, but I suppose we‘ll see in a while.

Intriguing that the 159/1s will match the 158s - Is there anything in the interior preventing a more standardised layout? Eg floor boxes / header tanks etc? Going on the basis of the downgrading of the FC on the 444 fleet, I cant see downgrading and reducing the FC on these will be popular with the Salisbury commuters.

Interestingly I was at Salisbury Station at the end of last week, Friday lunchtime. The car park was empty. Not half empty or even three quarters empty. Just a scattering of cars in the bit of car park near the station entrance. Rail commuting of this distance is finished. Whether it's terminal we'll have to see.

It’s because they had their C6 overhaul and repaints just before the franchise changed hands. The same applies to some 158s as well.

Very true. It certainly is a case of the big unknown at the moment. It certainly was, prior to 2020, rather well used though. I remember even seeing some morning commuters standing in it from Basingstoke (and grumbling about their FC fares not paying for their FC Seat / When someone sat in their select seat).

Oddly, while I'm no fan of the original BR 158 Seats (Give me a ScotRail Inverness 158 anyday), the SWT refurbishment did bring out one of those unusual cases where Standard Class was more comfortable than First. I don't know what SWT did to those Primarus seats, but they weren't comfortable in the 158/9 Fleet. The layout + Plug sockets being the only real feature over standard.

Just like Great Western's 150219 and 150238 then which are still in FGW but were refurbished before the re-brand...

Yes, all of the 159/0s are in the SWR livery but some have the striped version and the SWT interior still, same for the 158s too and the 159/1s are all in the SWT livery still and some 158s too...

Portchester now repainted
Let's hope Fareham gets done because it's worse now than before its 'repaint' due to the taped blue bands disappearing...

I hope so too!
AFAIK I think their now using paint instead of the blue tape but do correct me if I'm wrong.

450020 next repaint due Monday 12th when 450019 will be released.

Let's put the old one back. Or at least a new one to match the concourse roof.
I've started a new thread in the infrastructure and station section of the forum to discuss station work

The SWR livery has grown on me a lot and looks quite good although some of the logos are very over the top

I agree. I think it's quite a smart livery and better than some other current ones, eg EMR.

Is there a planned completion date for diesel and desiro repaints?

The yellow plays an important role in the livery and staff uniform which I didn't pick up on before. I guess it's a much needed warm colour.

It's taking around three weeks to get a Desiro repainted, so I recon the 444's will be done by the end of next year and the 450's close to the end of the franchise.

I think you mean close to what would have been the end of the franchise. :) Repaints certainly won't be complete by March, when the franchise ends assuming the termination payment is agreed by December.
