As I type this, a Pacer has just arrived into platform 8 at CDF but it's out of use.

Does anyone know the likely (or possible) diagrams for tomorrow please? Also would anyone be able to post the allocations on the day? If so that would be great :)

Keeping it brief it was 143625 on a failed service from treherbert the 1427 to bridgend which terminated at pontypridd 45 minutes late already delayed from trespassers on the line at Barry. Had issues at ton pentre.
However due to congestion some Pacers this afternoon went via danescourt. However at Cardiff Depot was 143602 143609 143616 143625.

Is it known if TFW pacers will end next sat with the timetable change? (apols if this is up thread) or are they likely to run longer into the summer?

I believe the plan is to remove them next Saturday from what Ive seen. Presumably some could substitute for 150s for 2 weeks but it wouldnt make much sense to diagram them in the new Timetable to lose them 2 weeks later.

Does that mean that they already have enough 150's to run a Pacer-free service, but are still using the 143's while they can?

Or is there going to be a reduction in services or train lengths in the next timetable? (I'd have thought if anything we'd be needing more as travel picks up again)

There isnt a reduction in service. Presumably the plan is use the 769s more to do an internal cascade to free up more 150s to pair them but certainly from what ive seen internally the plan is to be a pacer free fleet from Saturday.

Todays diagrams are the 3 reported by @superalbs plus
143606 on diagram 104

143607 today did the ecs to Swansea to work the 07:08 Swansea to Cardiff

143609 vice 150 on:
9:44 Aberdare to Barry Island
11:24 Barry Island to Merthyr
13:06 Merthyr to Barry I
14:43 Barry I to Treherbert
16:27 Treherbert to Bridgend
18:38 Bridgend to Aberdare

Thanks.

The impression I've got from the 769 thread is that their introduction is going quite slowly.

There are 6 diagrams for them in the nre timetable, i dont think thats going to be possible with whats delivered so far.
There are certainly no 143 diagrams in there though.

Thanks. That looks like 3 x 769s up and down between Bargoed and Penarth and 3 between Rhymney and Penarth.

If anyone can tell me which diagrams have 143's on them today I'd be most grateful.

Edit: To partly answer my question, I've seen pacers on diagrams 102 and 106 today, and I think at least one diagram not listed as being down for a Pacer.

143609 is working an additional diagram ie 1538 bridgend to aberdare headcode 2a15.
However 1640 diagramm ie 2a16 bridgend to aberdare has had its 143601 removed earlier on that one but was at merthyr tydfil on the 1106.

2E16 appears to be a Pacer, but I was quite far away.

Edit: 2Y18 is single 150, so 106 is no longer a Pacer.

7 class 143s seen operating this afternoon on Barry Island/Bridgend to Aberdare/Merthyr/Trehebert routes this afternoon though one of them, 143601, was taken out of traffic possibly with a door fault. Other units out were: 143606/07/09/16/22/25

Door fault sounds very plausible - it was about 5 minutes late out of Queen Street this afternoon with door troubles, and on the way North the guard seemed to have to give once of the doors a bit of a kick a few times to get it to shut properly.

Glad it failed after I'd done my (last ever?) Pacer trip.

Does anybody know the workings for tomorrow (14th)? Thinking of a day out to Cardiff as would like to see 622.

They won't be known until the early hours of tomorrow morning. You can take Post #76 as a guide to the diagrammed workings.

Is the 0708 from Swansea tomorrow likely to get a pacer tomorrow morning as there seem to be more ICT workings to Swansea this afternoon? I am not sure if this working depends on whether the 0722 to Paddington runs.

It has been every day so far, with a 143 running empty from Canton. It will be dependent on the GWR situation in the morning as to if its strengthened or just runs as the booked pair of 153s.

622 is out today, unfortunately it finishes at Canton tonight so is much harder to see what it will be on, its also the last depot to allocate units normally.
Ill have a look in the morning though and post the workings.

Thanks sd0733 I guess I will have to set the alarm for 5am to find out. It appears the 1722 and 1822 Swansea to Paddington are running this evening so the 0720 could well run tomorrow. It looks dodgy there will be a need for a 143...

Im on nights so should hopefully be allocated by 5.
It may be that it doesnt run to be honest, the additional services are being added onto RTT now such as an 0816 Bridgend to Newport plus its ecs moves, but there isnt the 5F52 at 04xx from Canton to Swansea which has been the 143 showing. Could change, but could be an ominous sign for it.

That would be great if you could post gen on whether ecs runs for 0708 and if a 143. If not I will go back to bed. Perhaps they will put a 143 on the Bridgend to Newport instead!

Thanks for your help.
