So as it stands if no more pacers drop after today then 143 616 has the honour of being the last one in passenger use.

And I will be honoured having been on it if this was the last one but I won't bank on that just yet!

We bailed off the 2106 ex-Merthyr at Queen Street, took a little bash of the Cardiff Bay unit up to Heath High Level, came back to Queen Street on a 153 then went back to Llandaf on a 150 for what we think was the final ever scheduled Pacer working from there to Cardiff Central. Only us and one other group of enthusiasts on board. End of an era?

143601 and 143625 have recently to.
However whilst going past Cardiff canton Depot yesterday on a diversion from aberdare the ex 1344 to Barry island.
Both 143601 and 143602 and 143625 was parked up all together x3. So it looks like they could all have finished maybe
Oops - when I said 602 I meant 601.

Indeed, and in their time they have certainly got a lot of people where they needed to be. (Whether they enjoyed the experience or not is a another matter, though I rather liked them and the railway is going to be a bit less varied without them).

Interesting.

But wouldn't a Pacer on the City line have to be running solo?

Edit: OK posts crossed.

I didn't think the platforms were long enough for 4 coaches...or can they run a 4 coach train with 2 out of use?

Thank you SD. The City line platforms which were built approx 1987 were only built to accommodate 2 x 20m stock so, although they have operated as such pre COVID, 2 x 153s are strictly speaking over length.

Maybe its a glitch on Genius then. Unless it is locked out but seems rather a waste of fuel if thats the case.

Are those diagrams likely to stay the same until Thursday?

Genius doesn't seem to have lived up to its name here - 150 241 is currently happily running around solo, looking rather nice in the new TFW livery.

(But otherwise it's been extremely useful and I'm grateful for the information provided here).

I don't think I've ever seen 2 x 153s on the City line. Plenty of them solo - at one point they tried running the line entirely with 153s but it really didn't work on weekdays.

I think the first time I've seen more than 153 together come through Queen Street was when they started running 3x153s in place of a Rhymney 37 hauled train.

If genius has screwed up can we assume 601 is still on 101 diagram?
Thats showing as 150256 alone but if its not with 241 on the city line then potentially it could be. Sounds like the only way to tell for sure is if someone sees it.

All three Rhymney-Penarth turns are 143+150 today. 143601 0902 off Rhymney, 143616 1002 off Rhymney and 143625 on the 1102. 143606 is on 1044 Aberdare to Barry Island.
