We grab some breakfast as we await the next Northern service out of town.

This is the 0901 to Preston. We alight at Rufford at 0910 on Saturday morning.

A spot of birdwatching anybody?

How are you calculating this? The bus station and the railway station are not within half a mile of each other (in fact, the 2A uses stand 22 at the bus station which is the other side in the direction of the railway station!).

Google Earth. I measured the distance as the crow flies as about 800 yards, plus a bit for corners = "up to about half a mile" in accordance with the rules. However if you are convinced it's too far carry on from the previous one and I will delete my post.

Getting 0.571 miles as the crow flies on Google Maps. Just to simplify things...

We take the nine minute walk to The Paddock, where we board the 1019 Stagecoach Merseyside & South Lancashire service 2A to Preston (Bus Station), arriving there at 1108 on Saturday morning.

We then board the 11:15 Preston Bus service 43 to Preston (Railway Station), arriving for 11:20 on Saturday morning.

Not to worry, I just seemed to remember that Preston was one of only a few places where the railway station and the bus station were quite some distance from each other :)

We then from Penrith board the 1303 Avanti West Coast service 1M12 to London Euston, arriving there at 1636 on Saturday afternoon.

Well, the Stagecoach South Gold 51 is the only service that serves Selsey on Sundays so we don't have much choice but to wait for the same bus coming back at 09:05. It takes us to to Chichester (Market) where we arrive at 09:28 on Sunday morning.
