Sad to report that comedian Tom O'Connor died today (18 July 1921), age 81, after a long illness. In my opinion, he was one of the best comedians of recent years.

Lovely guy. Met him on a cruise ship after a great performance about ten years ago. Had a long chat and a laugh with him. We bumped into one another at the end of the cruise searching for our bags on the quayside. Another chat and a giggle or two. Thoroughly nice man.

Poor Tom O'Connor; another victim of "News of the World" viciousness. So glad that that rag has gone; shame that he had to experience the yellow journalism that sadly still exists to this day.
