TP08 had been running with a door fault and needed to finish at Longsight for attention, but the diagram it was on finished at Scarborough.
Many thanks for the shout, appreciatedTP08 had been running with a door fault and needed to finish at Longsight for attention, but the diagram it was on finished at Scarborough.
No, these are just single 185's.Are the 17:00 York to Scarborough and 18:34 Scarborough to York booked 68 until December?
No, these are just single 185's.
The new December timetables can now be downloaded from the TPE website.
It appears that the morning 68 diagram across the Pennines is 05:54 Victoria - Lime Street => 06:54 Lime Street - Scarborough.
In the evening it is the 20:34 Scarborough - Manchester Airport (i.e. one hour later than present.)
There are some unfortunate gaps in the service, e.g. 08:34 Scarborough - York does not run, so there is a 2-hour gap in the service 07:34 - 09:34.
In the evening the departures from York to Scarborough are at 20:00 then a 2-hour gap to 22:00, which now becomes the last train (the 22:45 doesn't run).
It seems that no attempt has been made to time the York - Scarborough shuttles with any connections in mind. The xx:54 path from Liverpool (which is the WTT Scarborough path) is occupied by a Newcastle service which sits at Manchester Victoria for 14 minutes, then reaches York at xx:05, 5 minutes after the hourly Scarborough shuttle has departed. It's no better the other way.
There should be three 68s and a 185 involved in the diagrams, with some laying over / swapping at Scarborough during the course of the day.
A reflection of demand and cost of operation rather than any function of the trains themselves - realistic, not shoddy. (In part also due to a lack of training for York traincrew as well but that is also impacted by the current circumstances.)So we're no better off? Still only 3 sets out a day from December? This is shoddy if so.
The new timetables have been uploaded to the fares system, but as yet have not been made available to download from the TPE website.Link to the new timetable please?
Thanks
They are available on the TPE website but they have changed the way they are presented as they have merged the planned engineering works with the normal timetables. The new timetables have been uploaded to the fares system, but as yet have not been made available to download from the TPE website.
You can interrogate individual train times by searching for fares e.g. from Liverpool to Scarborough on (say) 16th December.
The timings are also available in more detail in Realtime Trains.
Maybe for the wheel lathe?Chiltern 68014 is on Longsight at the moment amongst the TPE 68s. First time I’ve seen one up here.
As far as I can see (from RailCam) there are three 68s out today as booked, 68023 and 68026 on the Liverpool diagrams and 68031 on the Manchester Victoria this morning. One diagram yesterday was 3-car vice 5 and one diagram is today albeit a different one.
Have there been reported issues with these? Also, I know somebody posted December's allocations 4 weeks ago: have things changed with regards to the new timetable?

The morning gap in departures York - Scarborough has been sorted, but the non-connections at York between the Liverpool starters and the Scarborough shuttles (and vice versa) persist.
It's almost as if somebody was deliberately making the service as unattractive as possible.
68022 + TP13 failed at Scarborough yesterday morning after arrival from Liverpool, which caused some cancellations, terminating short, and 185 substitutions for the remainder of the day.
I was looking on RTT for a service from Man V (MCV) to Man Airport (MIA) For the Sat. 19/12/20. When I spotted this working from Redcar Central (RCC).
Dep. RCC 1007 arrive MIA 1313 1P68.
Dep. MIA 1340 arrive RCC 1648 1P77.
Now they don't look very exciting at first glance just another 185 working, but when I looked at the traction it was saying diesel loco trailing 160 tonnes. Is it just a glitch? Or are TPE going to start running 68s from RCC to MIA.
The Class 68s are now working York to Scarborough shuttles, save for one working per day each way over the Pennines to get sets to/from Longsight for maintenance. As I understand it, two diagrams on offer but one spends most of the day sat at Scarborough, the other most of the day at Longsight. Correct about the all stations trains being 185s.I can’t imagine there being many Nova 3 diagrams in the new reduced north timetable from February.
The 2 hourly Manchester to Scarborough (via local stations) is expected to be largely double 185 with one Nova 3 doing a morning Manchester to Liverpool to Scarborough and retuning in the evening as current
Those are just timing loads. There presumably isn't one for a 'diesel locomotive hauling 160 tonnes' via Rochdale / Hebden Bridge so they have to use the nearest one available.According to RTT it will be a DMU as far as Dewsbury, where it will magically transform into a diesel locomotive hauling 160 tonnes, during a one minute stop!
Booked Class 68 Nova 3 set, ecs linked below.I note from Real Time Trains that next Sunday, 31st January, there will be a 1E27, 08 18 Manchester Piccadilly - Scarborough via the Calder Valley. According to RTT it will be a DMU as far as Dewsbury, where it will magically transform into a diesel locomotive hauling 160 tonnes, during a one minute stop! However, according to a source within TPE, it will be a class 68 and Mark 5 set throughout. The question is.....can I get up early enough on a freezing winter morning to photograph it roaring through Hebden Bridge at 08 54?
