And TFGM should not fund out of there area bus routes.

I agree that routes fully out of their area they shouldn't fund - but if the alternative is a bus terminates in 'the middle of nowhere' because the better termination point is just over the border, then actually it may make sense for them to fund it on the grounds they'll recover the cost by farebox revenue.

An example where such thinking isn't happening is in Hertfordshire - the long standing 44 runs cross country between Luton and Stevenage. It's been an HCC contract since the mid 80s - the latest round of changes mean it runs from Stevenage to Peters Green (a tiny village) and back. Yet Luton itself is only about 4 miles further but over the border into Beds - yet Stevenage is about 10 miles away. So for people in Peters Green, they'd probably be more likely to head to Luton for shopping etc, yet the bus only goes to Stevenage now on most of its journeys, so fewer people will use it.

Warrington's Own, 22 Warrington-Ashton, has had to be rerouted in Haydock because of parked cars obstructing buses, that it now goes via Piele Road & Church Road direct & not through the New Boston estate, no buses go through that estate now.
To be fair, that is their own fault as the bus used to be a solo, they decided to take over the route using Eclipses and Geminis which were never going to fit. They should never have been given the route. It was clearly let with either MTravel or WOB being desperate and no thought put into it.

A mile is too far. Typically in the UK we aim for 400 metres as a starting point.
North Yorkshire County Council have a variable interpretation of that. A new housing estate in Knaresborough has a hourly bus funded for it by the developer initially at the request of NYCC - originally an additional service it is now served by a hourly variation of an existing half hour service. Meanwhile another proposed estate (and refused) over twice that distance from a existing service did not need a bus in NYCCs opinion because of the high frequency of services along the existing distant route.

One area in Burton has had there service reduced because of bad parking at school times. The route use to run from around 7am until 6pm but now runs between 0830 and 3 and is diverted away to another part of town at other times. Not so good for commuters.

Part of the problem at times is that the roads are not big enough for buses. Sometimes I think how does my local route gets round some of the roundabouts on the estate in my village as the roads are quite narrow.
Which area in Burton are you referring to out of interest?

Moor Park in Hertfordshire is pretty unusual, had a population of 5.532 at the last census, but the bus service operates nowhere near the estate, as apparently Moor Park is a private estate, the estate has a Tube Station on the Metropolitan Line.

Port Sunlight Wirral has no buses, there used to be a bus that started/terminated near the station but that was withdrawn long ago. Stagecoach rerouted a couple of routes via Church Drive but locals complained about buses using a conservation area, so Stagecoach rerouted them direct via New Chester Road, & then cut one to Ellesmere Port-Chester only

There are plenty of gaps around Merseyrail stations, because (particularly given that Merseyside free passes have rail validity) why would you use the slow, noisy, smelly bus if the train was an option?
