Let's hope that none of the participants on the train from Birmingham think that it will actually run to Weymouth Harbour.

I don't think people on the Northern Belle are worried about things like that. Certainly not by the time they've started on the wine list.

Where are you planning to photograph them all. The Victoria -Weymouth goes down via Yeovil. Because there are so many charters with not a lot of space in Weymouth they juggle the ECS's around. The Belle runs empty to Yeovil pen mill & sits in the yard for 3 hours before running empty back to Weymouth. The statesman goes to jubilee sidings before running to Dorchester south & back to make space for the RTC charter.

I've never been on a Northern Belle trip, but I recall a rare-tracks charter on which the group across the aisle from us started on their (substantial) stock of wine just after the train left Paddington. It was soon after 7am.
By the time we reached the rare trackage in early afternoon, they were all fast asleep. A friend and I debated whether you should colour in a route if you'd travelled over it but were asleep all the way.

The Northern Belle market themselves similarly to the VSOE. They're about fine dining and luxury/exclusive experiences. I imagine that if you got a quail and highlighter out on board you'd get some very funny looks! Presumably it's the Weymouth food festival that weekend.

No, 3 weeks later, 30 July. Plus it's about a 30-minute walk from the station to the festival site anyway.

In any event, is Weymouth's fame for food not confined to fish & chips? :)

Mention of fine dining and quail in the same sentence also made me think that the edible sort was being discussed. Which might well turn up on such a train.

i was hoping to see them around the new milton area as just assumed they went the normal main route, or do non of them go the main route?

Statesman & belle go out and back via the main route. The rtc is outwards via Yeovil and rtn via the main route. Like I said there is too much traffic for one day in Weymouth hence why there is ecs movements.

So does the Statesman - Ironically both have a connection to each other, with the Statesman previously operated by WCRC on behalf of Railfilms ltd prior to the purchase by LSL, while the previously Belmond Northern Belle is now owned and operated by WCRC.

Weymouth regrettably stays in my distant memory as the worldwide location where I had the worst fish and chips. Shocking: poor fish, and soggy chips. Not like Greek-run fish and chip shops in Oz, I'm sorry to say. But at least I did the line.

The RTC charter from London+Weymouth via Yeovil still hasn't appeared on RTT yet
One wonders why…possibly Staff absenteeism preventing info appearing on RTT

some times are on Yeovil Rly Centre website eg arrives YJ 1322 35028 detaches, turns and serviced etc, thence at 1505 to Weymouth via PM . Main train dep YJ 1400 with dsl to Wey via PM
main train then 1709 Wey to Wloo. according to Rly Touring Co.

Not sure if steam will run. Likely to be a ban from Network rail due to high temperatures forecast and risk of lineside fires in place all weekend

Also that no-one reading the northern belle website:
"If you have a head for heights why not ride the Jurassic Skyline a revolving viewing tower"

...is too disappointed when they find out it was removed three years ago.

Umm,pathed as 75mph to Yeovil Junction. Then 95mph when diesel takes over from Yeovil Junction to Weymouth. Most of the time It says pathed as diesel.

Interesting to see a sleeping car in the formation, presumably for loco/catering crew use ?

There are 2 sleeper cars in the Northern Belle rake - 10734 and 10729. Both are used for staff overnight accommodation.

All 3 charters did very well yesterday recovering from the signalling problems at Weymouth. With all the extra movements, I guess it was inevitable that there would be signalling problems. Just look on RTT and see how badly it affected SWR and GWR services. A number of cancellations and several more re-timed in order to accommodate the charter movements.

Thanks! Nice to see the overbridge at Sway is becoming such a haven for uncontrolled buddleia growth (first photo), Sway's own version of London's cancelled Garden Bridge project at a fraction of the cost! (initially)

everywhere is getting a bit overgrown recently, not sure how you would attack that lot with a weed killing train though
