Not the 14A. The "parallel" route actually shares very little route with the route in question, but does at least provide extra capacity between the city centre and the out-of-centre terminus on the route. Note the additional information in post #328 also - the night bus equivalent runs at 10-minute intervals.

Is this the 25?

It is indeed the 25. It is effectively supplemented along its route by the 23 and 28/29, and between the city centre and the Universities by the 5B.

The next clue would have been that it uses different vehicles to most (if not all) other routes in the city.

*Ahem*

Back in London and the spiritual home of night routes - Trafalgar Square.

But can this be right - it runs as often as every *3* minutes overnight (18bph)? It sure can.

Given Trainfan344 appears to have gone offline without a response, I shall give you a poser :p

This service starts in Colchester and operates to one of the umpteen towns (which means not Chelmsford ;)) within commuting range. In the Colchester area specifically, it serves the Hospital, all three railway stations, the bus station and the University, as well as the central one-way system. It was previously a haven of Volvo Olympians, although these days the route is under different management to its Volvo days.
