Another nostalgia thread, vaguely following on from this one:
When I grew up in the 60s there used to be various soap powders: I remember Daz, Omo, Oxydol and Persil. Now the first and the last have survived, but the other two have disappeared without trace.
Similarly, there were Wiskas and Kit-E-Kat cat foods, the latter being cheaper than the former (and smelling so). The former survives.
Presumably people in the 60s had very dirty baths, as products like Vim and Ajax were heavily advertised as ‘scouring powders’ but then again ‘Flash cleans baths without scratching’. I think Flash survives, and Ajax turned into a less-abrasive liquid, but poor old Vim!
Any other examples?
Things that used to be common place in people’s homes
A few days ago I noticed when looking at homes for rent that on had a TV in the kitchen. Something I remember most people having however nowadays it’s pretty rare. It got me thinking of other items you used to see in everyone’s home but are now quite rare such as vhs players, vinyl record...
