    It looks like the pair of 153s did indeed run all the wqy to Manchester and back again on the 1430. Arriving into Cardiff over 100 minutes late! They must have paid out a lot of delay repay today.

    There seems to be a few problems with the 197s today - it appears 197120 was on a Milford to Manchester but cancelled from Cardiff Central due to a problem with the train. It appears 197116 took over from Cardiff despite RTT saying it was cancelled. Also i was looking forward to getting 197102...

    TFW will refund the difference between first and standard class fare if there isnt a 1st class service. Hopefully you wont need a refund however!

    I think the original plan for the Dec 23 timetable (announced around early 2023) was Pembroke Dock and Swanline would remain as 153 pairs until the 197s on Maesteg/Ebbw Vale etc were able to be replaced by the 231's. I dont think 5 cars on the marches was ever going to be impacted by 197s...

    Yes ive noticed a pair of 153s or if available a 158 substitute now on the rare occasions there isnt a 197 available. It is probably easier to use these as 158s are used for Cambrian/North Wales and 153s for HOWL/Crewe local so are easier to swap in and out of diagrams than 150s are now...

    Thanks for the info. I noticed on RTT that the 158 i saw was swapped for a 3 car 197 for the Cardiff-Manchester part of the journey. Very good indeed when you consider how many Sprinters there used to be even 6 months ago.

    I think the long term plan was for the 19xx arrival from South Wales to still split even when its a 5 car. I think the 2030 is meant to be the only 2 car booked working out of Manchester to South Wales? So the 1930 would be the 3 car set after the split. Anyway, good to hear all 4 diagrams...
