I am given to understand that as of the week after next, there will only be two C Stock diagrams left on the Circle so Wimbleware conversion is not far off now...

Yes, i'm trying to keep post #169 updated with happenings of C Stock. (double-post prevention negates me posting again)I am given to understand that as of the week after next, there will only be two C Stock diagrams left on the Circle so Wimbleware conversion is not far off now...
Although funnily enough I was at Hammersmith on Monday, arriving on a C Stock, and the other two platforms were also occupied by C Stocks.Realistically I can see it happening - the C Stock are getting very hard to find on the Circle now Although, they seem to have made a bit of a comeback to the Hammersmith and City compared to the last few months.

Trains 70 71 75 77 are nominated for S7 working first.. . . . so it will be every other train. They should all be gone by about May
Infected? S Stock is pretty niceProbably be plenty on the Wimbledon-Edgware Road route, that hasnt been infected with S stock yet.

Yep, it IS a shame to see the C stock go.

I'm always glad when a C stock turns up on the way to work, but purely for nostalgia. The trains themselves are old, cold, uncomfortable and knackered, the sooner they're gone the better.
The A stock was different because the A stock was a proper inter-urban train. The S8 was a bit of a step down, not least because of all the longitudinal seats they put in. But the S7 is a step up from C stock, very definitely. It's probably not a step up from D stock, but that's another story.

Wait until the temperature hits 28C, you might find a new appreciation for the S stock.
Personally I think the seats are very comfortable, and I die a little inside if a C stock train turns up.
The only things I like about the S7/8 are the auto-closing doors and the ability to walk through.

Agreed, the C stock (and A stock) were simple trains that just got on with the day job without any fanfare.
It isn't a shame from my viewpoint, C Stock is one of the most unreliable on the network and spares are impossible to get hold of, the loss of C Stock will also mean longer for the 1972TS with the spares released.
Spares?
I though you just hit them with a hammer!
The C stock seem to be going straight for scrap, no spares being removed first!
But you can do all that in glorious air con on a hot dayYes, if your idea of nice is having to squint because of the bright lighting, having ice cream van noises every time the doors open and being shouted at by a loud, patronising voice every five seconds
