5 Years on after all 818 stores across Great Britain and Northern Island closed down for good in 2008/2009. I am now asking the question what's your local towns Woolworths now?

Ours is still empty. It still has all the Woolworths signs up. Which was actually the old logo, very behind the times.

No plans/signs of anybody thinking about moving in.

As I travel a lot I can answer a few in one go!

Stafford-became Sports Direct almost overnight.
Leek-Yorkshire Trading Company
Longton- still empty (more to do with Longton's lack of 'get up and go'!)
Hanley (Stoke on Trent) became a TJ Hughes and then latterly a Poundland
Littlehampton- Iceland
Rustington- Original Factory Shop
Wellington (Shrops) Heron Foods

I wonder what happened to that Woman (ex-woolies Manager) who opened a "clone type" store in one of the former branches.

She was featured in some sort of documentary at the time if I remember correctly.

The one in Lincoln became a small Primark, but I think it had actually closed a year or so before the rest of the chain.

(Can't think of any others around here)

Seaford is an M&Co fashion store.

Brighton (Western Road) became an H&M fashion store.

Newhaven has been through a couple of tenants: initially, one of the Woolworths clones.

Eastbourne didn't have a Woolworths, which was unusual for a town of that size.

The Derby one became a TJ Hughs and is now a pound shop.
The one in Nottingham became a Poundland, and featured in 'Undercover Bosses' on Channel 4

Was going to name the Kiddy one as one nearby.

My local one in Bridgnorth is a The Original Factory Shop.

My nearest one is a Tesco and a Costa. Its nice to have some continuity, we now have 5 Tesco within easy walking distance. I love the choice that capitalism brings.

Ah yes, that Big W used to be brilliant. I'd forgotten about that. Did that close before the rest of the Woolworths? It seems like that Tesco Extra has been there a long time now.
