I am trying to make a list of platforms that do not have any passenger trains that are scheduled to call there. Trains that pass through without stopping or ECS trains do not count.

I can only think of the following so far.

Manor Park - Platform 0
Queens Park - Platform 5
Queens Park - Platform 6
Salisbury - Platform 1
Salisbury - Platform 5
Southall - Platform 0

Can anyone think of any others?

Between the parallel lines
Obviously (and as recently discussed on this forum) you have those stations where certain lines have two platforms, and one is disused - eg. Norwood Junction Platform 2, Crystal Palace Platform 7, etc.

There are plenty of sidings/headshunts etc. with redundant platforms alongside. On the Southern network these include Oxted Up Bay, Redhill Post Office Dock, Salfords Aggregates, Streatham Hill Bay, Norwood Junction Platform 7 (generally usable for road-rail vehicles only) etc.

On the DLR, I seem to remember that nothing is booked to use the terminating platform at Mudchute.

Fareham P2. (Which may be a poor example as it now has a single arrival in the evening, possibly a rusty rail move?)

If Salisbury P5 and P1 count then so should Southampton P5.

The original question might have to differentiate between platforms that are capable of normal passenger use, and are used at anytime during perturbation (like at Fareham), and those that are physically present but not signalled for passenger use, and don't have signage or operational PIS (like Southampton P5).

Rochdale bay platforms 2 and 4, only used (currently) in times of service disruption as all scheduled services are through trains.

Platform 2 used to be used for the Oldham loop which is now converted to Metrolink.

Platform 4 faces Manchester and is brand new. There are plans to extend trains which currently terminate at Manchester Victoria through to Rochdale using this platform but this will not start until 2017 at the earliest.

Hooton has an unnumbered platform onwhich the station building is located passengers having to cross the bridge to access the live platforms. Also one of the platforms at Liverpool James Street is not used except in emergency.

Aren't there more disused platforms at Hooton? It's one reason why it would make sense to extend the Chester terminators to Hooton.
Also Rock Ferry, platforms for the Birkenhead Docks branch.
And, I seem to recall, Northwich, the platform for the Middlewich branch, fenced off but still there. (It might have changed, I haven't been there in a while).

Stalybridge - Platform 2. Has no trains scheduled to depart and is used once a week for the terminating Stockport - Stalybridge service.

I don't believe that Clapham on the Junction has any trains that are booked to stop at platform 8.

If we're being technical, Platform 1 at Watford Junction never seems to have any trains timetabled to use it, but in reality the LO trains go into Platform 1, 2, 3 or 4 equally despite mostly being timetabled to use 4!

Having been on a train which has stopped on P8 due to an additional call order, it is a large step from the train to the platform.

------

Harrogate platform 2 (York facing bay) isn't used.

Would Norton Bridge/Wedgwood/Barlaston/Newhaven Marine count? ;)

Crewe Platforms 8, 10 and 12 have nothing scheduled at the moment, and 2 only has one departure first thing in the morning.

Does the platform at Chippenham without any track count? It no longer has a number either.

There's also a disused platform at Weston-super-Mare which is sometimes used as a siding for engineering trains.

Salisbury, platform 1.

Platforms 1 and 2 at Twickenham, both bays on the up side. Platform 1 has some bits of track remaining, but has not been connected with the up line for ages; Platform 2 has recently been relaid, but as far as I can tell, not been used. Years ago, it used to be used for rugby specials from Waterloo.

Platforms 2 and 3 at New Malden, both on the fast lines. There is still an entrance with stairs up from the station subway, but the platforms are only ever used in an emergency.

Platform 1 at Earlsfield, on the down fast. It's fenced off these days with one of those tall metal fences with sliding gates, so it can still be used if necessary. The platform on the up fast disappeared years ago.

Platform 2 at Acton Main Line, on the up fast. I don't know when platform 1, on the down fast, disappeared, but it's not there now.

Crewe Platforms 8, 10 and 12 have nothing scheduled at the moment, and 3 only has one departure first thing in the morning.

I am not sure where you have got that from.

Platform 3 at Crewe is used to turn around the London Midland service that heads to London Euston.

12 seems to be used both early and late, mainly for trains starting/terminating for the day and then heading to various Depots.

10/9 are used interchangeably by the ATW Chester Shuttles but they do tend to focus on 9.

8 is pretty much unused.
