It's was the 6 questions I answered on the assessment day. Not sure if what I answered would be the same as yours.

Off the top of my head.. But I may get them wrong it's some thing ive not got notes on. Intact Cavey81 will maybe correct me if I'm wrong as he had the same questions as me as we did the assessment day together.

1.Name a time you did a role similar to a train driver
2.Tell us a time you dealt with an emergency situation
3.Tell us a time you did a training course longer than 3 week's
4.Name a time you worked in a safe manner whilst following rules and procedures
5.??
6.??[/QUOT

I think the others were :

A time when you have to do something and it's important not to make a mistake.

And the other was similar to 4 but it was a time when you have to follow rules when under pressure. Or something like that.

" dth "I quoted the wrong person when asking where you were in the process... You told us that in previous posts..

" 1812_s " I was trying to ask that question to you ? Were are you in the process mate ?

I've been looking at what is involved in the Trainie Train Drivers Medical.

Medical involves, blood pressure, height/weight (BMI), eye tests, urine, ECG, and a hearing test.

Does that sound about right? If anyone who has had a medical can add anymore details that would be brilliant.?

Jay_C85 also kindly gave me this information

Also your balance and memory.

The memory test itself was straight forward, I was asked to remember a number and street name, then told to do the balance check, I got asked a few more questions then I was asked to recall the address I was given about two minutes earlier.

Eyesight check, if you use glasses or contacts you will also be tested without using them.

Hearing test where you get put in a booth with headphones on and listen out for beeping noises.

Ecg where your heart beat and rhythm will be checked.

And finally a drugs test.

Hi all,

I can't be the only one reading the news re: the new time table etc and wondering what the hell is going to happen with everyone waiting for training courses?

Hi all,

It’s certainly worrying. What happens to everyone waiting on courses and medical if GTR are stripped of their franchise. Who knows? Seems like a right cock up. Not enough drivers trained for the new routes. Hopefully they push to get the latest batch of drivers trained and everything settles down in the coming week. I don’t think you can put all your eggs in one basket when going through this process. The rail industry has an bad track record when it comes to Recruitment of drivers. Ie talent pools.

Can you be in a talent pool long enough for your tests to expire??
I’m currently waiting for a medical and start with Southeastern for Grove Park. Apparently all filled for this year.
I passed my assessments with Southern February 2017. Rail recruitment...

I have a friend who started a course in January and he told me all training courses were put on hold for 12 weeks, due to the time table change. So as they wanted the next course to start in September,my educated guess would be that the next course will be in December.

I don't question what you are saying, but I can't help wondering why did they put the advert for TL trainee drivers based at Orpington in March.

Called recruitment today... didn't get anything out of it tbh. Was told if there's any updates, we would know. It wasn't Trudy who picked up though. Ah this wait is agonising.

Have the training school told the trainees out front ending when are they restarting the courses that were stopped halfway through?

My group returned this week to continue with rules, all other groups I was informed yesterday that there are five ahead of my group are expected to resume around the 23rd of July, if things calm down within the business.

Thanks for confirming what I said

Hi, I passed interviews and just waiting on medical appointment, for maybe a start in Sep/Oct (Cricklewood). Anyone else in same boat? Been waiting ages. When are we likely to hear? I’m worried about the places filling up on the course, or if you have a medical, do they also have a place lined up on the corse for you ready? Also, if you start the training then they delay/cancel that course - what happens? Do you still have a job? I’ve still got a mortgage to pay!!

Nobody here will know that unless they have inside information. I think there are more pressing train and timetable issues at the moment tbh.

I’m worried about the places filling up on the course, or if you have a medical, do they also have a place lined up on the corse for you ready?

If I understand you correctly, no, not necessarily. They will have x spaces on the course and they will allocate a,b,c trainee to said course. The remaining non selected trainees will wait for a future course.

Also, if you start the training then they delay/cancel that course - what happens? Do you still have a job? I’ve still got a mortgage to pay!!

I have never heard of a course being cancelled once it has begun. I think that would be extremely unlikely/rare. - If it is delayed, you will continue to be paid your trainee wage and will be expected to ride up front with a driver over the route, (ideally the route you will be learning and signing off once qualified). There is no need to worry, unless you've already handed in your notice at your current employment or something similar.

Same boat as you mate. Waiting for a medical and hopefully a September or October start for Cricklewood. Maybe they introduced a new psychometric test... The Patience Test lol

Hi, thanks for responses. You’re right about the timetabling issues. That’s why I’m holding off calling them. Don’t want to pester them!
SA91, when was your assessment? 31 Jan? Same as me if so.
