I think the limitations of Oyster, rather than any nefarious purpose, are the reason behind the lack of Oyster. It feels like that is a way to stop people railcard discounts on the extensions!

For Railcard holders, this must surely mean that, off-peak, a paper ticket from Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Welham Green or Brookmans Park will always be cheaper than using Contactless?I think the limitations of Oyster, rather than any nefarious purpose, are the reason behind the lack of Oyster.

Hertford North, Bayford and Cuffley have gone live today.
I see that the Mayor of London answered a question in December 2018 and said that it was now hoped that the extension of Oyster to Luton Airport Parkway would happen by late 2019.
Officially live today, but have been using it since last weekHertford North, Bayford and Cuffley have gone live today.

I can see this causing chaos if Oyster doesn't also cover the shuttle bus between the station and the airport terminal.I see that the Mayor of London answered a question in December 2018 and said that it was now hoped that the extension of Oyster to Luton Airport Parkway would happen by late 2019.
This page on Mike’s site may help...I can't seem to find information on the TfL website about the Hertford extension. It has also not appeard on the London Connections map yet. Can someone send me a link to this please?
Many Thanks
A quick bump as the consultation closes at 2345 on Wednesday. Thanks for posting the link to that document. Its a shame the link in the document to enter an online response does not work.![]()
Posts #154 and #157 say Hertford North was live from 2nd April officially, and earlier in reality.I was surprised to see this poster at Alexandra Palace a couple of weeks ago, already showing Hertford North in the shaded area, where Oyster can be used...
You could possibly do that for PAYG (although l have seen some convincing arguments that even that is incorrect). You certainly could not for season tickets as Virgin at Euston found out the hard way...An Oyster fare doesn't need to include operators who don't participate in the scheme. LNER can simply say they don't recognise Oyster on their services.
Is Oyster going to be valid on East Midlands Trains services to Luton Airport Parkway or just Thameslink?
Can you find me any evidence that Oyster is actually valid on Southeastern to Redhill when they are diverted that way or GWR between Redhill and Gatwick Airport? (I have 'used' Contactless between those stations on a GWR service but am not sure it is actually valid.)

Oyster and Contactless PAYG will be extended to Potters Bar later this summer. Further details will be provided nearer the time. Following this, Contactless only PAYG will be extended to Brookmans Park.

Can you say where you've seen these maps? I'm aware of an internal version that has this detail, but I thought all public facing versions are the joint TfL/RDG London Connections map.TfL has put up maps saying exactly this for Potters Bar and Radlett for at least a week. It has more limited coverage, though.

So it is, I'd not spotted that change. Thanks.
Has an OSI been introduced between St Paul's and City Thameslink? I'm curious about the dotted line between them...It's on the TfL website and on display at many stations.
In the key on the left of the map, it says the dotted lines show places where there is under a 10 minute walk between stationsHas an OSI been introduced between St Paul's and City Thameslink? I'm curious about the dotted line between them...
