I think they are part of the enhanced psychometric test's, so if you fail that's one of your lives gone.Does anyone know if the two online tests (M7SJT and VSE) count as one of your lives if you fail them?
Only lose a life at tocs that use them. They are part of enhanced testing and won't affect the normal psychometric test.I think they are part of the enhanced psychometric test's, so if you fail that's one of your lives gone.
I know, so polite when there was no real delay at all. Thanks to the OP informing of the opening of recruitment I applied for Bristol on November 2. Received a reply on the 5th apologising for the delay (polite but no delay really) asking me to complete 2 further assessments by November 12.
Thank you. All the best for yours. I definitely recommend a quiet location, particularly for the second part.I know, so polite when there was no real delay at all.
Good luck with the tests, I’m trying to gear myself up for them, maybe find a quiet time over the weekend.
No they don’t take a life, only tests you do at the OPC centres can lose your lives.Does anyone know if the two online tests (M7SJT and VSE) count as one of your lives if you fail them?
Are you sure about that? I thought the DFFT, SJE, and VSE were all part of the enhanced tests. No they don’t take a life, only tests you do at the OPC centres can lose your lives.
Yes, you can’t lose any lives for tests you complete at home. Are you sure about that? I thought the DFFT, SJE, and VSE were all part of the enhanced tests.
If you fail any of them , you lose a life at just those tests and at tocs them. They don't affect the standard psychometric test. Are you sure about that? I thought the DFFT, SJE, and VSE were all part of the enhanced tests.
No idea but sorry to all of you doing them. Did them for Avanti. Brutal!Does anyone know if the two online tests (M7SJT and VSE) count as one of your lives if you fail them?
I put in for Mossend mate, not had anything backAnybody heard back about Mossend, i.e., received email for online tests?
Does anyone have the stages? I’m upto managers interview but not sure what’s after that. Any help and guidance on will be asked too. Thank you
Evening, I’ve applied and done the first two sets of tests and have the managers interviews next. Does anyone have a copy of the stages please? I didn’t save it and not sure what’s coming up after the interviews. Good luck all that have applied. Hopefully we might be colleagues soon
Thank you. Must have swapped the managers interview and testing centres stages around. The stages are as follows:
Online questionnaire - This stage will involve you completing an online questionnaire as part of this website. You will need to answer some questions about how you like to work, what you know about the driver role and how you would manage different situations. If you are successful through the online questionnaire you will then be invited to complete the online testing.
Online testing - For this stage we will email you a web link to complete two tests online. The Visual Search Exercise (VSE) will take you around 60 minutes and the Situational Judgement Test (SJT) will take a further 60 minutes. Both tests will be scored and if you meet the required standard then you will be invited to attend the stage 1 testing.
Stage 1 testing: Paper and pencil tests - At this stage you will be asked to complete a range of psychometric tests that will assess your skills and abilities that are required for the role of train driving with Freightliner. These will be the Group Bourdon and Tea-Occ which assesses attention, the TRP1 and TRP2 test which is a trainability test, and the DFFT which looks at fault finding. After the assessment we will score up your tests and if you meet the standard that we are looking for you then will be invited to attend the stage 2 testing.
Stage 2 testing: Computer based tests and MMI interview – At this stage you will be asked to complete a number of computer based tests - WAFV vigilance exercise, ATAVT perception test, 2-Hand co-ordination test, the RSSB Situational Judgement Test (SJT), MMI interview. Again these will be scored by our assessors after the assessment day and if you meet the Freightliner standard then we will invite you to attend the manager interview.
Manager Interview - This is your opportunity to tell us more about you and why you’re suitable for the role. You will also be asked to give strong examples of how you’ve dealt with various situations. If you are successful through the manager interview then we will be delighted to offer you a Shunter Driver / Trainee Train Driver position. This is subject to a satisfactory medical and reference check.
Medical - You will be asked to attend a medical with our Occupational Health Team where a comprehensive check will be undertaken to assess your fitness to perform the Trainee Train Driver role. A drugs and alcohol test will also be undertaken.
Reference and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Checks - We will ask you to provide references that will be verified. We will also ask you to complete a DBS form that will then be checked with the relevant statutory authorities.
The selection process could take up to 6 months

Earles, you? Cheers bud you tooWhat depot did apply for? Good luck buddy
It makes sense to me to do it this way round. Good luck!Thank you. Must have swapped the managers interview and testing centres stages around.
Yeah I was thinking that too. Be a bit rubbish to pass the psychometric exams and fail the managers interview. Good luck to you too!It makes sense to me to do it this way round. Good luck!
I’d have thought the opposite, surely an interview is more subjective than a test which is a pass or fail…what’s the point in getting through a face to face interview based on how a candidate and their verbal communication is perceived, only to be met with testing that’s objective regardless so an interview pre-testing seems invalid. It makes sense to me to do it this way round. Good luck!
Two parts of the equation - in my opinion, it’s easier and more cost effective to put through candidates that you think will be able to pass the tests but also have the other abilities needed for the job (customer service, personality etc). And the interviews do have a scoring matrix for competencies so not completely subjective.I’d have thought the opposite, surely an interview is more subjective than a test which is a pass or fail…what’s the point in getting through a face to face interview based on how a candidate and their verbal communication is perceived, only to be met with testing that’s objective regardless so an interview pre-testing seems invalid.
I get you, different ways of looking at things…it does crank up the pressure a notch for testing if you make it passed the DMI though! Two parts of the equation - in my opinion, it’s easier and more cost effective to put through candidates that you think will be able to pass the tests but also have the other abilities needed for the job (customer service, personality etc).
