Probably worth adding Whippet's X3 which runs every 60 mins 7 days a week between Cambridge and Huntingdon via Cambourne and Papworth. It's faster than the Busway between these two points.

I've now had another look and I think this is excellent and has been improved by the input you have had. Question is what to do with it - it would be useful beyond our community, but how?

I have a small handful of points, some of which were in my earlier posts (notably post 22)
Whitely Bay is Whitley Bay (North East)
I would add South Shields and just show the 27 to Newcastle and 24 to Sunderland (I know there are other routes).
590/1/2 from Todmorden are wrong, 590 to Rochdale and 591/2 to Burnley as per my post 22 and mentioned above
I would add Hebden Bridge between Todmorden and Halifax - high profile at the moment, and show the 901 to Huddersfield and B3 to Keighley, potential tourist interest.
Maybe worth marking Tideswell as it is where the 65 and 173 cross in Derbyshire
Aylesbury to Milton Keynes is Arriva 150 as well as the red 100.
Centrebus 304 runs 5 times a day from St Albans to Hitchin, could add.
Bedford to Hitchin is 9A and 9B not 9.
Halesworth to Saxmundham is 521/522 (mainly 522), route shown but not number.
Redruth to Falmouth is U2 not U3 (mentioned above)
Personally I would add Lands End and the coaster to both Penzance and St Ives. It is all year now and has become a tourist attraction is its own right.
Again because its touristy it would be easy to show the 164 going on from Kingsbridge to Salcombe.
I suggested adding West Wirral towns Heswall and West Kirby in post 22, your choice whether to take it up but I still these plus the 22 Chester-Heswall-West Kirby and the 437 to West Kirby 471./472 from Liverpool perhaps also showing Birkenhead (also on the 1/X1)

Feel free to do as you choose. I wonder how this would look on an A4 page - is it legible?

Thanks, changed most of those! I'm not including summer services where there's a year-round equivalent, so missed out ATLA and LAND. Any source on the Coaster/Sunseeker? Have changed it, but curious to see how it will work.
This tweet alongside various bits in the First SW thread https://twitter.com/marcmorganhuws/status/1625792440950038528?s=61&t=GZuQwfdikLWeQpeaNwGzBw
Tweet shows photo of an open top being prepared for 2023 season with the extended route branded on the side

Argh, this is piling up a bit, thanks for the interest! To clarify, when I say I've fixed something, I mean I've done it on my private version. There's enough suggestions now that it will probably take me till tomorrow or Tuesday to get though them, so please do check back in the thread if you're suggesting something to check that it hasn't come up already.
I think this is a great idea. By now you will have now found out what a task you have set yourself for now and the future. This is especially so with this much needed map as many bus companies do not see the need to supply maps or even bus schedules. Like the 66 from Huntingdon to St. Neots that, since its takeover by Whippet after Stagecoach abandoned the route, now has no timetables on at least 3 stops in St. Neots.

@Parebunks Between Worcester and Ledbury, there's also the more direct 417 bus route, avoiding Great Malvern. However, it's pretty infrequent, so I can see why you didn't add it.

I did actually equivocate a bit on adding that, though eventually decided against - ended up looking quite ugly.

On another note, have updated the map! This includes all of the changes announced for April/May that I've noticed so far, though will have missed any smaller operators/ones without a thread here. Light, dark.

Excellent map, very useful indeed. A small correction is the new supported SC Exeter-Honiton-Seaton route is X30 (not X20) & the Plymouth-Exeter X38 doesn't serve Newton Abbot.

A few North Essex corrections:
  • It's spelt Stansted Airport, not Stanstead Airport.
  • Stephensons service 38 continues beyond Braintree to Halstead, but you only show Hedingham 89 on this section.
  • Hedingham operate two services between Clacton and Colchester - you show service 74, but not service X76.
Otherwise, it's a good map.

You're going to have fun with all the regular changes.

Should I mention that the M6 from Skipton will travel via Barnoldswick on its way to Colne?

What is the criteria for buses in/on the edge of London being included? Should the 702 and 703 qualify?

Thanks, fixed.

Didn't include school/college routes even if open to the public - far too many of them!
Parebunks, I admire your initiative, and tenacity. Excellent 'end-product' too- very clear.
I understand the complexity of the task you have given yourself- a great 'offspring' of the Harry Beck London Underground map.
The 'tube map' has undergone development and change: Aldwych and Epping-Ongar gone, Elizabeth Line and Overground added; Access limitations, ... endless.
Similarly for you- updating a mammoth and constant task.
I recognise the observations that something like this should be supported. It's your baby. Public money would bring 'oversight' interference and 'management'

I see your work as being a great help when I get back to planning to use my old git's pass (aka Senior Railcard!) once reliability returns ...

Give yourself a great pat on the back.

Thanks, all fixed.

Do they take ENCTS?
This page from the local council in Windsor suggests they do.

You may board a Green Line service (route 702) in the Royal Borough at any time to make journeys as far as Bracknell in one direction and Langley in the other. For journeys to destinations beyond Langley (that is, to London) the pass may not be used on journeys which depart from Bracknell before 8am Mondays to Fridays.

A valuable resource, thank you for taking the time to create it!

Oswestry and Ellesmere are linked by two routes, the 53 and the 449 (there's no service 8 as shown on your map).

Looking at the updated maps, have you thought about adding Swanage that has I believe 2 routes, one via Wareham the other from Poole via Sandbanks. The Sandbanks route is a cracking journey via the Poole Harbour Chain Ferry.

Both those routes are cracking, and steam trains at Swanage, and Corfe Castle too ;)

Thanks for the suggestion, will try to add!

You'd be rather lucky if half of those routes ran past 8pm let alone later night buses!!
8pm? Try 4 or 5 pm in quite a lot of cases! The dark version is mostly there as I personally think it looks nicer, but also because some people find it less straining to look at. Briefly considered a night version, but what counts would be extremely murky, and it would be so sparse as to be largely useless anyways.

Updated for summer! This includes all changes I've seen announced to the end of July, but might well have missed some. Also included are legibility improvements in Hertfordshire. Light, dark.

Between Buckden and Grassington you probably want a dotted line. The 72A which continues to Skipton runs once a day. The 72B which continues to Ilkley runs 3 times a day, 3 days a week.

If it fits, you probably want a thicker line on the 3 an hour 100/101 Luton - Hitchin - Stevenage.

The 635 Hitchin to Watford doesn't serve St Albans.

Please don't take this as me being negative. This is just constructive feedback. Here's a few faults that I found. Hopefully they can be rectified.

Also, you have a number of routes listed as running at least 5 times per day but they are less often than that.
D&G 89 (Northwich) is only 4 times per day
Phil Anslow 63 (Chepstow) runs 4 times per day
Applegates 62 (Thornbury) only runs 4 times per day
First Worcestershire 417 runs only 4 times per day
Diamond 149 (Redditch) only runs 4 times per day. Only runs 5 times per day on School Days with the 149S
Stagecoach 35 (Coleford) only goes between Coleford and Ross on Wye upto 4 times per day (4 northbound trips, 3 southbound)
Stagecoach 34 (Monmouth) only runs 4 times per day.
Taf Valley 322 (Carmarthen) only runs 3 times per day
Richard Bros 430 (Cardigan) only actually gets to Narbeth 3 times per day.
Adventure Travel 64 (Ammanford) while it may run 6 times per day, it only does the interurban bit twice per day
Pats Coaches 146 (Wrexham) only runs 3-4 times per day.
Transdev 840 (Whitby) only goes between Thornton-le-dale (Pickering in the maps case) to Whitby 4 times per day
Coatham Coaches 18 (Guisborough) only runs 3 times per day and no longer extends to Saltburn
Dales & District 159 (Ripon) only runs 4 times per day between Ripon and Leyburn
Hodgsons 55 (Northallerton) only runs 3 times per day

Other ones that I notice are
Gwynfor S1 (Caernarfon) should be a bigger line as it runs hourly.
Lloyds T2 (Caernarfon) should extend to Bangor.
Arriva 5A (Ellesmere Port) is actually number 5. Arriva just like to wrongly report the route number on open data.
Pulhams 801 (Cheltenham) runs every 90 minutes, the line suggests hourly.
A missing route I think is the Stagecoach 563 Penrith to Appleby. Would fill a big gap in the map. Service runs 3 times per day each way
Around Ormskirk, I think that a few changes could be made to improve readability. That would be swapping the 310 and 375/385 line and have the 152 underneath the 375/385 line between Ormskirk and Southport.
