Delay Repay: Digital tickets and footprint of itinerary.

I do sometimes take a photo when I'm on a train that arrives late. But that's just because it's the laziest way of noting the time...

Delay Repay Sailrail - ticket issued in Dublin

Those all sound like good points to me. I don't think I would have thought of trying to use Delay Repay for an Interrail pass but I can't argue with the reasoning above. I hadn't noticed that the NRCoT actually mention CIV. The wording implies to me that CIV applies to all journeys in the UK...

Delay Repay Sailrail - ticket issued in Dublin

I realise that wasn't aimed at me, but: No, because they have their own scheme. And if they didn't, perhaps also no because unlike UK rover tickets there is presumably no definition of what value to use for compensation for an individual journey. I can certainly see an argument that it is...

Delay Repay Sailrail - ticket issued in Dublin

OK fair point. Edit: Actually no I go back to my original position. Unless the CIV refers directly to the UK routing guide, if the NRCoT doesn't apply then you appear to have a ticket with no rules on which routes it can be used for. This doesn't seem right. You could argue that someone on a...

Delay Repay Sailrail - ticket issued in Dublin

Quite. That does seem to argue strongly for the common sense view that the NRCoT must apply (because if not, what does?) If the NRCoT only applies to someone holding a ticket which specifically references the NRCoT, why did they bother with rules on when you can board a train without a ticket?

What are your first impressions of the new TGV-M.

That was the point wasn't it? That as they run in fixed formations they could just well have been EMUs? I thought the reason for using locomotives was that they already had them and didn't want them to go to waste.

    German Rail in decline ?

They had a little cubicle on the last one I was on. Good luck!

Starting short on Liverpool to Norwich route

Which part of the NRCoT are you thinking of here? 16.3 seems to very clearly state that starting short renders the passenger iiable to pay the difference to a ticket which would permit it, so there seems no scope for a prosecution there. There's nothing saying that this doesn't apply to...

Why don’t train conductors announce delays sooner?

I can't speak for other passengers but personally I would much rather have a staff member on the train making announcements to apologise for a delay and say that they are still waiting to find out what's going on than complete silence. No, it doesn't actually tell me more about the overall...

20 mph Zones - Extend or Eliminate?

Presumably because the petition wasn't just a way of expressing a view, it was a request to the Welsh Government. Indeed to quote from the (rather strongly worded) petition text: (Which suggests a certain misunderstanding of how representative democracy is supposed to work, never mind with...

20 mph Zones - Extend or Eliminate?

Suppose turnout had been higher in the last election resulting in more people having voted Labour than signed the petition. Why would that change your conclusion as to to the level of opposition indicated by the petition?

20 mph Zones - Extend or Eliminate?

Putting aside the fact that I'm not sure the petition process actually verifies someone's location, this seems a bit of a strange metric to me. Which in fact they did, at least technically. What's changing is the guidelines on how they should use that discretion.

Political discussion regarding Labour's rail nationalisation promise

Isn't this why Livingstone's Fares Fair was deemed illegal?

Well I knew what you meant. And indeed this really isn't how one might have expected things to turn out.
