Oxford Corridor Phase 2 & Platform 5 updates

The always dramatic clickbait headline writing Oxford Mail is claiming the Botley Road has been closed this morning - turns out it's Becket Street, which runs adjacent to the station car park. https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/23238563.botley-road-closes-oxford-rail-station-work-gets-way/

East-West Rail (EWR): Oxford-Bletchley construction progress

Of course - half of that article was just pasted waffle about HS2 from somewhere else

East-West Rail (EWR): Oxford-Bletchley construction progress

I feel like the Oxford Mail story is somewhat lacking in accuracy, not to mention the missed opportunity to quote the length in football pitches to go with the "weighs as much as 25 double decker buses" (which I thought was usually a height reference, but...)

East-West Rail (EWR): Consultation updates [not speculation]

Quite possibly - I see Shapps is backing Sunak in a somewhat predictable attempt to curry favour with the bookies favourite. No guarantee he'll get transport, and no guarantee this soundbite will be followed through with. Personally I hope they don't scrap it as, living at the Oxfordshire end of...

East-West Rail (EWR): Consultation updates [not speculation]

It's somewhat of a moot point as he dropped out of the leadership contest a couple of days ago anyway.

East-West Rail (EWR): Oxford-Bletchley construction progress

Few pics from Sunday's wander around Bicester. Unfortunately the new Charbridge Lane bridge is currently closed to pedestrians (not vehicles) and there's a diversion over the Jarvis Lane footbridge which is where I took these photos from. The new bridge at Charbridge Lane looking towards...

East-West Rail (EWR): Oxford-Bletchley construction progress

Bicester update: looks like the new Charbridge Lane bridge will be finished by mid-May. Just had a leaflet through the door that says there'll be two way traffic lights between 19th and 26th April to install the vehicle restraint system, and the a full closure between 9th and 16th May to install...

East-West Rail (EWR): Oxford-Bletchley construction progress

Here's an interesting update from Launton Parish Council (original link) It seems the final alignment won't open until June 2022.

East-West Rail (EWR): Oxford-Bletchley construction progress

It's closed now until December 17th, and if I recall correctly from the letter that arrived the other week when it reopens there'll only be one lane open for a few months so temporary traffic lights to add to the fun.

East-West Rail (EWR): Oxford-Bletchley construction progress

Well quite. It was still open on Sunday afternoon when it was supposed to be closed too :)

Charbridge Lane is now closed for the next couple of months to commission the new bridge, so it might be quicker than you think.

    Chiltern disruption, 11 October

The London Road Bicester crossing was up with no flashing lights but closed to traffic last night, photo attached. Not quite sure the state of the crossing last night but trains were still running and pedestrians were still able to cross. Seemed in the same state about 7.30am this morning.

East-West Rail (EWR): Oxford-Bletchley construction progress

There's also a minor closure this weekend, from 10pm Sunday to 6am Monday if I recall. Maybe connected to the work over the bank holiday weekend, maybe not. The pedestrian/cyclist crossing lights have been installed but covered for a few weeks so perhaps they're going to get these working. Will...
