Crossing london without a maltese cross

Hi All, There are tickets that are valid for crossing London without a Maltese cross on them. I don't harbour much hope of london underground gateline staff letting me through on one of these tickets. Can anyone share any success/failure stories or tactics when they have attempted the same...

Been given a penalty fare for a valid ticket, what next?

Thanks for responses, two things to clarify. I've had two PMs asking for details of the fare. Yorkie is one of those two, and I'm sure he'll give his opinion of whether the ticket is valid or not. I've not paid the PF as I was told (and have it recorded on my phone) that if I paid, then I...

Been given a penalty fare for a valid ticket, what next?

Hi All, I've just been given my first penalty fares notice. I'll deliberately withhold details of the ticket unless the board thinks it would be helpful. I was on the return portion of the ticket, returning on a route different to the outward portion. The outward route is easily validated...

Sorry - Another Boundary Zone 6 thread - I hope an interesting question!

Sorry to resurrect a slightly old thread, but I wanted to tie a few loose ends. So it seems fairly obvious to me that the red section quoted above means the train doesn't have to stop at that station, is this interpretation correct? Again, is there any public documentation to support this? It...

Network card minimum fare, per ticket?

I'm trying to work out whether getting a network card is beneficial to me. It seems to come down to whether the minimum fare is per journey, or per ticket. If I split my fare and the total exceeds the minimum fare is that okay, even if neither ticket individually exceeds the minimum?

    Non-reservable connection to advance ticket

I believe this would be breaking your journey and against the terms and conditions on your advance purchase ticket.

    Early view of new restrictions/easements

He said a restriction, but perhaps he meant change of route? The ticket is an anytime day return, so it wouldn't be a different restriction as I don't think those tickets have restrictions? Maybe the route is being changed, currently it is any permitted. When I first spoke to him he dragged me...

    Early view of new restrictions/easements

Do I just have to wait until January to find out, or is there any way to view the proposed changes before they happen, or a consultation process? Sorry, I like this ticket and would hate to have to lose it if there is anything I can do about it (I doubt there is!)

    Early view of new restrictions/easements

By my interpretation it's not valid via the human readable routing guide, but via the electronic routing guide (checked on nationalrail.co.uk, and in station) it is valid, and I can get seat reservations.

    Early view of new restrictions/easements

One of the tickets I use to get to work has been shown to be valid a number of times, but it irks a specific guard who works the route. No other guard has ever shown any problem with the ticket. He has taken it upon himself to make this ticket no longer valid. He tells me a new restriction is...

Sorry - Another Boundary Zone 6 thread - I hope an interesting question!

Would there be anything one could point to that is publicly available to support this conclusion? Even something official that isn't publicly available would be great! Is it a good idea to ask ATOC, or someone else about this, or better not to?

    Farnborough to Guildford: Season ticket

Not trying to nit pick, but did you mean Farnborough Main, not Farnborough North? Also this thread seems appropriate.

Sorry - Another Boundary Zone 6 thread - I hope an interesting question!

Thanks for the responses so far. I wasn't so much thinking in terms of NRCOC 19 whether the train needed to stop at the zone 6 station because the outboundary travelcard is just (maybe) one ticket, and that isn't where the ticket(s) meet anyway. More that it could then be argued you are making...

Sorry - Another Boundary Zone 6 thread - I hope an interesting question!

First question, does an outboundary travelcard have the exact same validity as a boundary zone 6 ticket and a travelcard combination? Is it just the price that is different? I think we all agree that X to Boundary Zone 6 + travel card are valid to london terminals via permitted routes. In...

    Starting short on split tickets

Okay, just to close out this thread. My confusion was that I had imagined 'journey' to mean my entire journey in both directions. Although ambiguous in a few places, in at least sections 16 and 42 of the nrcoc it is very clear that for a return ticket you are making two journeys. Thanks for...
