    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

I seriously doubt the latter, but I do suspect that RMT had a hand in brokering a compromise deal. The ticket office fiasco probably helped with that, but then the RMT deal could also help ASLEF get the same.

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

I'm sure that would be the case at all depots. But it would be a formal rejection from the members, which is what is being asked for.

But how did RMT arrive at that position? By doing nothing and blaming everyone else? ASLEF execs may not like the caveat of having to put the offer to the membership, but its within their capability to do it. And you do know that unions put offers to their members that they do not recommend...

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

For the benefit of those not ignoring my posts, this is a false accusation. It seems that alternative opinions are not welcome with some.

Before you finish off polishing up that ego, having a ballot is neither giving in to government demands nor draconian. In fact putting an offer to the members is pretty standard across the TU movement. ASLEF for whatever reason don't want you to have a say in the union you subscribe to. Just...

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

Listen I'm under no illusions here, sending back a formal rejection by the members may not get any progress, although it did work for RMT. However the fact remains, no-one will ever know unless its tried. And its not a big ask, is it? So why not do it? You say that but who has the money? ASLEF...

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

No it wasn't explained, it was an on opinion why ASLEF have chosen their strategy. The reason I offer an alternative is simple, the current strategy isn't working. I mean would you rather not have the possibility of the backpay and a no-strings deal to date? Honestly, I can't understand this...

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

I'm not sure why you are confused, I have made my point dozens of times over the period of the dispute. But to clarify: I was originally against the action in the first instance, as I was with various disputes across private and public sectors, including my own. I was against them because set...

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

Oh they did. You may not remember, but they did. No, you really don't. You think its a case of either you're for the union action or you hate everyone. But that simply isn't the case, life isn't as binary as people wish it to be.

The MSL laws haven't worked.. yet. That doesn't mean they won't at some point in the future, after many other countries around the world including in the EU have such laws. Its only a matter of time before a company or organisation will seek to apply them. I wouldn't put too much faith in those...

DfT press release on Northern Powerhouse Rail

£10Bn? And the rest. Ten billion might just cover the consultancy fees for any such project, but certainly wouldn't build you a new line between Liverpool and Manchester, let alone one that extends into Leeds and beyond. If HS2 couldn't make it past Birmingham and potentially Old Oak Common...

    Baildon landslip

Sadly I'm not surprised, judging by some of the drone shots taken recently both properties will be seriously undermined by the landslide. Awful for the two house owners whom I believe have lived in the area for some time. So it's going to be RRBs for some time, which for the most part have been...

    Football

The only description I could come up with was battleship grey, absolutely awful! Saying that Belgium's wasn't that much better, reminded me of something Scunthorpe United would have worn in the 80's. I get the feeling that Euro 24 is going to be a you-know-what show for kits.

    Doncaster Sheffield Airport to reopen?

Oh I know, but frankly the chances of of commercial flights ever using DSA are pretty low to zero. So I'd have thought that it would be an ideal location, away from any flights whatsoever, with plenty of room for hangers etc. <D

    Doncaster Sheffield Airport to reopen?

Joined up thinking by the council there then, lease closed airport and look to have the one viable aviation business case build on the other side of the city.... Now the big question is, will Sheffield council allow any advertising of them given their recent decision to ban (amongst other...
