The space for standing is very impressive and will swallow a very large number of people but unfortunately the seats are not fit for purpose. I personally think for the Cross City line that if standing room is the priority and the full London Overground spec was not considered appropriate...
Just on one for the first time. It's fine in many ways.... But my god, the seats!!
It's notable that people would rather stand than sit next to anyone thanks to the 6 inch wide seats. And said seats are so tall that if you were unfortunate enough to be wedged in the window seat with someone...
Further to Peter's post, does anyone know if there will be any more than just the 3 730 diagrams in the short term to mitigate against the constant short forming of 350-operated services?
Absolute chaos and dangerous overcrowding at Euston tonight. No LNR trains apart from the extra Cov special (which was itself crush loaded) for 2 hours between 9 &11 pm. Horrific. What a night for it all to go belly up.
That does get full though... admittedly not so much recently but it was a huge problem before covid

It's fine - streetlights and everything. All mod cons here you know!

It's by the back entrance at the Marsworth end on Long Marston Road - the interesting end with the...
I'm not sure a 10-15 minute walk to the village is too long to be considered "walking distance"
Oh....I'm not sure. It appears on the journey planners so I presumed it was ok. Perhaps it isnt
As DarloRich says, there's been quite a lot of recent development which has substantially expanded the village itself and there's plenty more in the pipeline, including building on the disused orchards (which is being fought but I'm sure it will happen eventually ) and building a whole new...
The new 2tph service does seem to have increased passenger numbers although not as much as I expected - I suspect just a lack of knowledge of the improved service. Other than that, I've no idea why people would persist in driving to Tring or Leighton Buzzard as by the time you've got there and...
For 'aspiration' read 'never going to happen.' Poor old Aylesbury. EWR would have been a real boost. It is surrounded by HS2 and EWR works causing massive disruption and wrecking the countryside but there is zero benefit for the town, which seems to be destined to be forever stuck at the end of...
Yes it is. Had announcements to that effect on the train I'm now on - Not sure why though, given that we have just sailed through Bushey on the slow line!
Edit:it's because it has been cleared; passed the site now, on SL all the way.

That's very interesting.....must be December I guess as it's not showing for May. So Tring gains an extra train to make 4tph to compensate for the lack of the Southern service and Cheddington gets 2tph? If so that's doubly good news for Tring as the more attractive service from...
Cheddington Platform 4 is reopening on Saturday. Doesn't look like they've done a lot, just underpinned the dodgy bit with scaffolding.

Hilariously the Grand Reopening hasn't quite gone to plan. It seems southbound trains are not stopping at Cheddington because someone has forgotten...
As an inhabitant of said lair, I can confirm that platform 4 has been a bit dodgy for a long time. Apart from the whole structure sliding down into the field below, the wooden bits of the platform were clearly rotten and felt like walking on a trampoline. Not ideal!

LNR have removed the direct connection from Leighton Buzzard and Bletchley to Birmingham. They will have to remove all those signs that they put up that proudly proclaimed "Direct trains to Birmingham Airport".
I hope this is a temporary change as it makes journey times from the south WCML to...
Just seen a clip on the news showing teams of cleaners in protective gear disinfecting trains in China. I am sure this sort of response must have contributed to the levelling off of coronavirus cases there.
Now I've not been on a train for a week or so but I saw no evidence of such...
