    Post pass out mistakes

I finished my first year of driving a few months ago. My advice is the following: Question everything, particularly when involved in possessions as sadly there are all too many corner cuts in possessions Any hint of doubt, ask. Always make sure you go into a task knowing 100% what is required...

"Pay back" clauses for train drivers

A colleague of mine left tamping (is a driver) to go to GBRf, did all of his freight conversion training, came back after a few months as it wasn't for him, GB went for him and got their money out of him.

OTM trainee driver - shifts? Lodging away?

Speaking from experience on Colas tampers. If you're training on the tampers, it took me about 14 months to pass my driving. Note, driving will just be an element of the job. Pros No passengers. Different routes. Good overtime rates some good company perks Cons Poor management Exceptionally clicky - if you're not in the click, you get all the **** work bit of a backstabbing culture

Colas Rail OTM Driver/Fitter/Operator - Info?

Looking at the two adverts on the webpage, one appears to be for the grinders as it mentions lodging away from home, and the other is the same advert that I applied to last year and got for the tampers. Cant speak much for the grinders other than they spend a lot of time lodging round the...

SB Rail - OTM Trainee Train Driver & Operator | Crewe South/Nationwide

I joined Colas as a driver operator. If someone is after a train driving license only, this is not the job. A very in depth job. You will need to learn how to tamp track, control the tamping from the computer and be able to do basic maintenance on the OTM. Thats alongside driver rules and regs...
