    Closed heritage railway stations.

HehbI hear you on that. Maybe the station was levelled out a bit for the rebuilding of New Coombe Bridge. But yes maybe I'd struggle to call re-doing the platforms a resurfacing (oh to be a fly on the wall in that meeting). I'll be there at the weekend so hopefully I can get a good look once...

    Closed heritage railway stations.

That was Ketches Halt. Built out of redundant BR prefabricated concrete parts for a farm project that wasn't to be. Freshfield Halt was further north, on the embankments next to Mountesford Lane. Not far from a fantastic pub called The Sloop Inn. 1750714222 Since there are remnants of platforms...

    GCR Bridge Project

Absolutely, however it means they can get on with it and do these investigations and design work. Once the money's been raised, obviously. AIUI they have to drill down about 50 to 60 feet to see where the bedrock is, what's underneath it, where the water table is and what other groundwater is...

Heritage railways with modern signalling/level crossings

Pickering has an Automatic Open crossing outside the station. https://maps.app.goo.gl/NYqXjfj7Tfh9FEhq7?g_st=ac

Great Central Railway News and Updates

How many 20s are there on the combined GCR? I saw 3 at Loughborough at Christmas and I know there's at least one at Ruddington.

Martijn Gilbert leaves FirstGroup with immediate effect

If what I read in that link is true I'm not surprised. But then I have a strong dislike of First Group anyway, given how they treat their bus drivers. However, maybe he's worked his notice period on the quiet and only announced his departure right beforehand. It's what I'd have done...

Why can't they design a train interior with an equal number of seats facing each direction.

I hate airline style seating. It should all be facing and properly matched to the windows. Screw what the DaFT says.

Why don’t heritage railways make an effort to “sell” diesel traction?

The East Lancs might be most likely candidate to do that. A blue diesel loco on B/G coaches with a blue or B/G DMU coming the other way would take me straight back to my childhood.

Stations that still have BR era (or older) signage

I still prefer RA 1 Coventry has had all its signs changed over to RA2 and it does actually look really good. It's all on a 'Modernisation Plan' style building too so it oozes 60s atmosphere.

    Factors determining heritage railway timetables

Cheers for the info. It does seem they're trying to promote their 'package trips' It'll take a lot of brown paper to package me, though :E

    Factors determining heritage railway timetables

I tried booking tickets for during our Snowdonia holiday a couple ofcyears back. All I could find was the 'excursion ' type ones on their site. It set me thinking are they selling walk-up tickets from A to B any more?

    Factors determining heritage railway timetables

The WHR does this. Trying to get a standard return from, say Portmadoc to Beddgelert without having a picnic hamper dumped in your lap on there can be hard.

Train delayed to enable customer connections

I'd say 'On Time with Sensible Connections' probably covers it. It's like me trying to get to Leicester from Rugby, you miss the Leicester train at Nuneaton by around 2 minutes and gave to wait nearly an hour, resulting in a journey time of almost 90 minutes to do just 15 or so miles. You...

    Do Railway Lines Need Names?

I agree. At least Varsity relates to matters 'Oxbridge' so that's a vaguely sensible name. I used to live along the West Coastway Line, and I can see the reason behind it: it runs west along the coast from Brighton.
