    Storm Gerrit related disruptions-27/12/23

Even in London £300/night will get you a very decent hotel - no wonder LNER don't publicise it much! Do other TOCs have the same policy?

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

I was in first class from Kings Cross to Darlington last night - 1830 departure, I chose it as it was advertised as full menu. No hot food due to 'staff shortages' - just sandwiches, salad box, crisps and a chocolate mousse thing. Crew were lovely as always but it does seem hard to justify the...

Charter train from Liverpool to Euston today

Interesting - I didn't see that thread. I heard a member of Avanti staff saying they'd timed it to transport all the people who had checked out of hotels at 11am - seemed like very good planning!

Charter train from Liverpool to Euston today

Hello, I was travelling back from Eurovision in Liverpool today and there was a train with no reservations that Avanti used to help clear through the volumes of people - the 1203 from Liverpool Lime Street. It was an extremely nice train (branded 'Intercity) and interior was lovely - much...

13/06/22 cleaning staff member being abused at Paddington

You should write to GWR/cleaning contractor in case the customer makes a vexatious complaint. Appalling that GWR staff didn't help - you should say that to GWR too.

    ECML Disruption 04/06/2022

The previous evening (Fri 3rd) there was also a trespasser on the track (near Huntington) - my Grand Central train was delayed by an hour and a half as a result and got into Kings Cross at 2237 instead of 2107. Not sure if it was the same person or not but a tough 24 hours for the ECML!

    ECML level crossing incident 13/06/21

I'm currently caught up in this on what's turned into an LNER sleeper train. Was on the Grand Central Eaglescliffe-Kings X which turfed us all out at Doncaster. We were then shepherded onto an LNER train which went nowhere for a few hours before a new train was sent down. This became the 2340...

New Years Eve on the Tube.

Thanks again - what do the night drivers do? Are they engineering trains?

New Years Eve on the Tube.

Interesting, thank you. So someone who worked NYE could do morning peak on the 2nd? Are Night Tube staff allowed to volunteer for NYE shifts?

New Years Eve on the Tube.

Some questions that I've always been curious about re: NYE - Are Night Tube drivers and station staff contracted to work NYE as well? - How do they make sure that day drivers working on NYE doesn't mess up the schedule for the next few days - guessing they can't work NYD but can they work a...

No ticket acceptance with other operators when things go wrong [GC]

An example from earlier today https://twitter.com/GC_Rail/status/1209481538594848768 The only alternative arrangement seems to be to take the service a few hours later! Now this is 2 hours wait but I've seen it before at 4-5 hours

No ticket acceptance with other operators when things go wrong [GC]

In this case the next GC service was too overcrowded to travel (by GC's own admission) - would that mean they are obliged to pay for LNER tickets?

No ticket acceptance with other operators when things go wrong [GC]

I travel regularly with Grand Central and have noticed that over the past few days although they have been having frequent cancellations they have not been offering ticket acceptance with LNER - so people have to either wait for the next service (usually 3 hours away) or buy tickets with LNER...

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

Just read through lots old posts on this thread - agree with consensus that atmosphere and staff are generally decent but constituency is lacking - looks like I was offered way more drink than other posters, but my food portion was tiny - a little tart plus a few leaves and a tiny sliver of...
