New: Stagecoach Sheffield - DSA Airport

I knew I'd pick the wrong one, I couldn't work out if you were looking directly at the new route or comparing it to catching the bus from Doncaster station! Again, a while since I've been there in the peak but I don't think it's too bad. I think it's busier up towards Tinsley and...

New: Stagecoach Sheffield - DSA Airport

Assuming you mean the A638 into Doncaster and not any of the other Bawtry Roads nearby... Since the A6182 Great Yorkshire Way opened Bawtry Road has been a lot quieter and traffic during the morning peak is relatively minor. I can't answer for the Great North Road as I don't normally go that...

New: Stagecoach Sheffield - DSA Airport

Exciting! It will be interesting to see if they add a stop at (e.g.) the Park & Ride at Parrots Corner for connecting passengers. That would probably stimulate a reasonable amount of local demand towards Sheffield. Likewise how limited the stops are too, I wonder if they're going direct via the...

Departures display screen at Manchester Airport bus station

Less useful for catching the bus but perhaps more useful for knowing who is actually operating it. There's plenty of areas where one brand is covered by multiple operating companies that are independently managed, so it makes some sense. Perhaps the bus operators should name themselves according...

Departures display screen at Manchester Airport bus station

Without knowing possibly it is the actual company name? For example Stagecoach may actually be GM Buses T/A Stagecoach Manchester and Manchester Community Transport may actually be Wythenshawe Mobile Limited T/A Manchester Community Transport? See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Buses...

    Party Battle Buses

I saw that purple monstrosity on the M1 today, it looked like an Ayats but I only got a quick look between 2 wagons as it passed.

From what I know, they've been making big steps towards DDA but whether all services are open or closed door I don't know.

    Sheffield/Rotherham Tram-Train update

You flatter me with the thought that I could have forgotten that when I'm not plugged in enough to even know in the first place! I think I'll still stand by my theory, even if the specifics don't quite stand up to scrutiny.

    Bus/Coach Drivers...what do you know?

Agreed on the whole, but often in coach (or mixed) firms there are a few unofficially "owner's pride" vehicles which mere mortals cannot drive!

    Sheffield/Rotherham Tram-Train update

Probably very little more than via other alternatives, but I imagine it would be more efficient from a TOC point of view to join the two if they are to be 321 operated stoppers. As you say it provides a couple of extra connections for some stations, but by building a (fairly) fast & (fairly)...

    Sheffield/Rotherham Tram-Train update

It would make a logical extension of the Leeds service, but how it would fit into other Leeds to Sheffield services is unclear. It is interesting though, I suspect a higher frequency service with electrics would be quite favourable, but I presume the tunnels in and out of Sheffield are near...

    Bus/Coach Drivers...what do you know?

I was the same as you, though it was often a sixth form run for me. Our managers tended to do colleges as it was easier, I think that's cheating! I preferred the sixth from run to be honest, our college was private so the kids were often *ahem* entitled.

    Brightbus/MASS

I suspect a fair few MASS buses will probably go up for sale, I believe they have some ex-First triaxles so even First might be interested in some! If Powells are happy with a couple of 'oddballs' then it would probably make for a nice earner, especially if they proved a fit around their other...

    Sheffield/Rotherham Tram-Train update

I think it would need a separate pair of light rail tracks most likely, no idea how access would work into Sheffield centre unless perhaps via the tram lines from Meadowhall? But give it a reasonable frequency and modern, electric trams and I think people would be quite happy, there's no need to...

Plenty of time for that! Powells must surely be in for a shout too?
