Stagecoach East (Bedford, Cambridge, Huntingdon and Peterborough)

More changes coming in June. Looks like mostly minor stuff, biggest change I see is the busway services. https://tiscon-maps-stagecoachbus.s3.amazonaws.com/Timetables/East/SERVICE%20CHANGE%20NOTICES/2024/02JUN24_SCHANGE.pdf It seems to me like it will deal with the issues between Addenbrokes...

16 day line closure at Hackney Downs - London Overground suspension and WAML diversions, 20th Jul - 4th Aug

Couldn't they get out via a reverse at Clapton? Not a great solution, but just once a day for depot rotation should work?

Hertford North -Should the frequency increase, with a return of the Semi-Fasts?

I don't live round there anymore, but when I did, I definitely felt that even off-peak (specifically evenings and weekends, less so weekday daytime) it could justify 4tph, with 2tph of those from Stevenage semi-fast.

A point I very much agree with. The whole Cambridgeshire LA system is pretty bust. TBH these days Cambridge and Fenland have so little in common it makes very little sense to combine them in one authority; let alone both the county council and the mayor. The below picture illustrates some of the...

    Cycle Bag Searching at Stations

I know this is in jest, but it does seem silly to search through people's panniers when there is a much larger space for a bomb of whatever in a boot which no one would ever dream of searching through. And in many stations, you can park a car right outside, or even inside.

A Cambridge tube coach, is there a case for it?

I've often thought about this as an idea. Cambridge doesn't have quite the same advantages as Oxford in that the station isn't as far from most of the city, and the M11 doesn't get so central. But, a route like parkers piece-mitchams corner-grange road-madingly road park and...

    Guided Busways

Yeah, such a shame it never came to pass. Although as a fairly regular user of the A within the city it could definitely justify a heftier frequency enhancement than it's getting. It's full and standing, to the point of leaving people behind a lot of the times I catch it. And that after cutting...

Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire frequency and electrification

Maybe I'm just too naïve about costs of things, but surely just installing "normal" crossings with gates would be much the easiest solution and shouldn't cost a crazy amount?

    Night buses outside of London

Others I'm aware of: The 510 Harlow to Stansted Crawley is more than 2. Isle of wight has a few (not 24 hours but pretty late) Slough has a couple (for Heathrow) Luton has at least the busway one The Leicester to Birmingham airport aircoach maybe counts by your definition. Birmingham has the X1...

    Monmouthshire/Wye Valley rail return?

Utterly utterly unviable. It'd end up costing billions for a town of 10,000.

Manchester City and TfGM to introduce trial services to Etihad Stadium

Looking at the routes, I'm surprised they're only picking up at certain stops. I get not stopping when routed along motorways, and not stopping within a mile or so of the stadium, but why not stop at every bus stop further out when trundling round Marple for example?

Stagecoach East (Bedford, Cambridge, Huntingdon and Peterborough)

Yeah, I think dealing with congestion is the thing which would actually help buses in Cambridge the most. I was on a bus that took 20 minutes to move 100m past the Catholic Church junction last week. Sadly given the fate of the congestion charge I fear Cambridge politicians have lost their...

Trivia: Where can you still buy a single for less than £2?

Looking at the "published" fares, I think they were right. They're available at https://bustimes.org/services/22-clitheroe-whalley-langho-wilpshire-blackburn-ro/fares but there seems to be a number of different overlapping fare tables for adult singles, but my reading is that no fares are less...

20mph in Wales, change to bus timetables?

I caught the 12 recently on a weekday daytime, and about half the journey seemed to be waiting time, and that was before they get even slower timetabled. Seems and over reaction to me
