Another service facing the axe, with the likes of other services over the past 3 years or so (SWR Bristol services, EMR token service to Leeds and GWR workings to/from Brighton).
I remember the days when Virgin Trains used to run twice daily...
The one question I've got regarding the service in the final years was there ever a service on Sundays? I can't find any reference to such services, and the fact the remaining stations were de-staffed gives me that impression there wasn't one.
From looking at RTT, there's an extra return peak time Southern service to Hemel Hempstead. 18:10 service from East Croydon - 19:38 off Hemel.
Oh I wish that service could be extended to Milton Keynes again, I can even remember the time it used to be a Watford Junction - Brighton service!
Part of a wider pattern of removing duplications of other operators services. Look at the EMR services that used to run to Leeds, GWR Brighton, SWR Bristol to name a few...
I have a feeling that this is only the start of things to come. SWR Bristol services gone, the single EMR return token service to Leeds is going as well.
It does get me that LNER recently introduced a token service to Middlesbrough which you could say is a 'duplication' of TPEs...
When I did it, I took the daytime sailing out from Fishguard to Rosslare which connected well with trains at both ends which was no problem.
However coming back I stayed overnight in Rosslare for the 0730 sailing to Fishguard which got me in at 1100. This was quite good especially as this was...
It used to be in good old paper timetables that any connecting service to destinations would be highlighted in Italics. So I'd like to think that the connections between Bristol- South Coast and V.V will be promoted even if it's just with onboard announcements.
I used the GWR service yesterday from Great Malvern all the way to Brighton. Lightly loaded from Great Malvern as far as Gloucester then it got fairly busy all the way to Brighton. Not the most comfortable experience on a 166 all that way but it's manageable in the former 1st class seating area...
A thought, wouldn't it make more sense to run the service through to Fishguard Harbour instead of Pembroke Dock? Wouldn't it cater more demand...
I know the Pembroke Dock trains aren't exactly boat trains as the 'Docks' themselves are on the other side of the town. Fishguard on the other hand...
Anyone here remember the GWR Summer Saturday London Paddington- Pembroke Dock services?
Nothing said that it has been cut as such but it would be good if someone could shed some light on the service...
Cheers
All booked.
Managed to get the FIP Port Tax on the way out sorted. On the return no availability. Apparently down to a quota system so I had to book RailSail Advance to Fishguard and Goodwick on the 0730. There was apparently plenty of availability on the 1815 but that's no good if you're...
Hey Everyone
It's been a really long time since I last posted on RailUK Forums so bear with me...
I'm planning a trip to Ireland next week with accommodation etc all booked. I'll be using my FIP Card whilst I'm in the country as I didn't order the coupons.
As I will be travelling from...
Morning,
I am going to Amsterdam later this month and I am going to use my FIP/PRIV passes.
I've never used a FIP card before and from what I gather, I can get a coupon for the ship between Harwich and Hoek Van Holland.
How does this work? Do I present the coupon at the ferry ports?
I...
Whenever I use the Wimbledon Loop, it has always been on a 319 and no other stock e.g 377s.
Why do Thameslink allocate the 319s on the commuter and Wimbledon Loop services rather than using 377s,387s? I know eventually the 700s will take over.
