The rapid rise of fare dodging in Switzerland

Well seeing as I had one guard refuse to read my coupon, and just say "no" when I asked him to, I'll take my experience over this essay, it feels every month I go, the staff get worse

The rapid rise of fare dodging in Switzerland

I've had a few bad experiences with SBB ticket staff, and also their ticketing sales and policies, and some of the staff seem to have an attitude of going out to actively book up as many people as possible, valid ticket or not

    Switzerland break of journey

Fantastic, I have FIP so only really use Point to Point if I'm not using coupons so this is great to know. My girlfriend has a GA so we try to make the most of it

    Switzerland break of journey

Next week I'll be staying at my friend's in Geneva, then heading to Bern to pick up my luggage, then going on to Züri, will a point to point be valid, or will I need to buy a Geneva - Bern, then Bern - Züri? AIUI they use distance based pricing but one ticket will just be easier

    Monzo Bank

Their paid service is good for the cost, a bump in your interest rate, a greggs every week and a cinema ticket every month, plus phone and travel insurance for £7

Towns or Cities where you were born or lived that have declined or improved over the years

However the character and charm of Manchester is disappearing. I'm only in my thirties and a lot of my favourite pubs and bars have gone, replaced by gimmicky theme bars, massive turnover of restaurants and soulless apartments. I understand the need for the apartments and offices for tax income...

    Montpellier-Zaragoza: no through ticketing

I'll try that now, thank you!

    Montpellier-Zaragoza: no through ticketing

I am currently booking a trip to Spain using FIP, Ffestiniog have confirmed they can book the domestic RENFE services, but not the AVE from Lyon to Barcelona. Which is a bit of a spanner because this is the only realistic option on the date I'm travelling

    Walking and Rambling discussion

I'm a very fairweather hiker so not done any in months, however I have a few on my list to do soon. One is the Broadbottom bluebell fields once spring hits in the next few weeks. I'm planning to try and do this early and then head up to Glossop to add a few more miles through the moors. Had a...

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

Typical of me, I only started using these recently to do online German lessons. However the last couple we've had to do on zoom because Skype has been too slow or the sound quality has been terrible. I wonder if this was linked, and they've stopped updating or keeping quality controls...

    Interrail Validity

Oh so its only one Eurostar trip too? Reading it back it's clearer so I'll have to register my address as CH before I buy this pass, I'm sure buying this then a SwissPass halbtax will work out much cheaper

    Football

I'm a Man City fan and I'm involved in a few supporter groups now to try and let the club know where it's real supporter base is, as pointless as it seems. It looks like from what's coming from the club the 115 charges will be a minimal punishment which for the club and team is great, however...

    Russia invades Ukraine

Ok I've stayed out of this because I'm not what you'd call a "liberal" and have my own views on the US and Ukrainian democracy pre war, however Putin has had his hands dirty in Syria, basically banned fair elections and attacked his own people who have tried to organise democratically, and this...

    Interrail Validity

Hello, i currently work for a TOC so this isn't relevant yet, but I'm planning on handing my notice in and moving to Europe. Once my FIP has expired I'll be using Interrail, and if my country of residence is still UK before I move it to CH i just wonder how exactly this works. You get one...

    Manchester Metrolink (Non speculative discussion)

Coming from a daily user of the Altrincham/ Airport lines perspective the idea of a full length tram that utilities the middle section for additional space, that would mean morning and evening peak trams would have more than enough room, and maybe even future proofing them. However my partner...
