McGill's Scotland East (Midland Bluebird and Eastern Scottish)

No cancellations today on McGills routes according to website, if this is correct and it can be continued then it has to be viewed as making the correct business decision especially in West Lothian. It will be up to others to solve the conundrum of Sunday, early morning and evening services for...

McGill's Scotland East (Midland Bluebird and Eastern Scottish)

The people of West Lothian are now paying the price for the futile little "bus war" that began in 2018 with the aggressive attempt by Edinburgh buses to oust First. What effect covid has had is anyone's guess. My personal opinion is it only delayed the inevitable crash and burn with government...

McGill's Scotland East (Midland Bluebird and Eastern Scottish)

You surely don't still believe these companies care about customers? I think the Edinburgh City bus company blew that right out the water with the abandoning of so many who had made plans based on a reliable bus service being in place. If its impressions you're after then the Public Transport...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

So its been a week since LCB altered the West Lothian network and reduced services. The early signs are that they haven't just shot themselves in the foot. It is more akin to blowing off both legs. The X27/X28 are running together on many occassions which inevitably leads to one near empty...

And you can never legislate for drivers for whatever reason not turning out for their shift. The days of depots carrying spare drivers to cover failure to report are long gone with current situation.

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

So from the big entrance of "We are on our way" in 2018 to the meek surrender and in a flash it turned to "We've virtually gone away" LCB really have left quite a few people in the lurch. I'm not sure a network can survive on 3 routes in West Lothian especially as 2 of those virtually duplicate...

McGill's Scotland East (Midland Bluebird and Eastern Scottish)

Not sure why you think the 276(not 275) being removed would help the driver situation at McGills? The fact Lothian Country has abandoned large areas will have no bearing on McGills service levels at present. 1669049944 To be fair in 2016 when Livingston got a delivery of ADL to go with the 64...

McGill's Scotland East (Midland Bluebird and Eastern Scottish)

I think this should be directed to the LCB thread. The fact it now has "worst service provision" has come about due to LCB partial withdrawing from West Lothian. 1668009420 21 Serving East/West Dedridge to Livingston and Bathgate X25 serving St Johns X22 serving St Johns, no longer serving...

its £2.85 from Pumpherston to Livingston. As with most of the First stage carriage distance was never a gauge to price.

McGill's Scotland East (Midland Bluebird and Eastern Scottish)

The insanity is thinking £1.80 is in any way commercially viable over a long period of time. I think another operator tried it recently and it didn't end well. There are many options to make the journey cheaper: day tickets, weekly tickets, bundles of day tickets. 1667762393 It is an issue...

That looks like a risky move East Calder to Livingston rising by £1 from £1.80 to £2.80 considering McGills is only £1.80.

Free Bus Travel for under 22s in Scotland

And in 10 years time or so the Government of Scotland will wonder why obesity and Heart related issues are at an all time high. We are now rearing a generation who will not walk 100 yards with the free travel available. The fact it's going to prove so expensive it probably won't last is going to...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

I'm not sure where your information is coming from but it's wrong. There are a number of agency drivers still at Livingston, and there are always people leaving and always people starting. There are currently 20+ in training although not all for Livingston and I guess the old adage of keeping...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

Can i ask where the "depot leased" theory comes from, leased from whom? The depot in Livingston like the other 3 were part of the sale of the business along with the buses and the staff ,thats why no option was given to staff to transfer to First at any other location ,something quite BIZARRE...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

Its over there is no magic money tree and the driver situation wont be changing anytime soon. lothian have to get back to the city and getting that sorted and east lothian is also there unchallenged. West Lothian was always a different challenge and its taken a toll on their other ventures.
