    As the engine exhausts vent skywards from the roof of the power unit in the class 755's I would have thought it would make some difference trackside to noise levels compared to engines located below the floor.

    According to Google Maps measurements I live just over 700 metres to the west of Lowestoft station, and 125 metres (shielded by intervening houses) and 200 metres clear line of sight (and sound) of the tracks themselves. So with the Norwich and Ipswich services arriving and departing all day...

    755405 was still on test runs as of Tuesday 3rd March 2020 at least , seen here in the evening at Lowestoft having arrived from Norwich.
