Took a lot of photos on that route in the mid late 80s ( came up at weekends from Leicester) of the cl. 45s, looking forward coming up again to see the DB V200s :D
Did think the case of Bristol to Edinburgh was somewhat loaded, had a look at Bristol's airports departures for Friday and saw 4 flights to Edinburgh but did not see any to London, Birmingham or Manchester.
I was told that when they rebuilt the station about 1980 they slopped the platforms away from the track so if they ever put wires up they would lower the track and level off the platforms to match the track level, I do not know if it is right though. I thought that when there was a lot of low...
There was one at Nuneaton seen on CCTV this had shopping in it as owner went to the toilet, Freight Liner passed through plat. 2 at speed pushchair smashed into the wagons. Could have been a child in it, was on Youtube.

In July 1938 Sir Josiah Stamp threw a switch in the Great Hall which set of a charge in the Caldon Low quarries to release limestone for the rebuilding, but WW2 stopped the work.
