Grand Central apply for Newcastle - Brighton direct

Not necessarily difficult. From the North East, change at Peterborough onto a XC. For Luton from the North East, head to Carlisle then Milton Keynes from there. Or get the coach from the North East to Milton Keynes for Luton.

Can GBR bring XC back up to INTERCITY standard?

They run a second one at peak times on weekdays - 14:45 Reading - Newcastle (leaves Birmingham New Street at 16:30) runs via Leeds. But not one the other way for some reason.

Most unusual/unexpected unit allocation you’ve been on?

Wow how long ago was this? Presumably there was a shortage of stock at the time!

    ECML - keep it simple?

Yep, and I can sense an uproar if LNER withdrew from Aberdeen and Inverness. Plus the Azumas are the highest capacity trains in normal service up there!

Cross Country Voyager overcrowding: What can be done about it?

They should be doing 5 and 8 coaches now - they've enough trains to do it yet the 07:04 Edinburgh to Penzance is 'planned to run with 4 coaches'.

How to increase capacity on the Birmingham-Derby line

I think you'd need around 10 minutes for a big train to reverse instead of 4 minutes.

Stopgap options to cover for delays to introduction of Class 810 for EMR?

The TfW 150's are gangwayed and 2 coaches can be used at quieter times.

Stopgap options to cover for delays to introduction of Class 810 for EMR?

Yep and EMR hopefully running 12 coaches this time!

What rolling stock could/should replace Transport for Wales' Mark 4 sets, Class 230s and 153 Active Travel sets long-term?

I'll be honest it's pretty regular that the Mark 4 sets are replaced by a 197 when passengers have paid for First Class. My advice is don't offer First Class if you can't guarantee it.

    15X Fleet future & withdrawal

I doubt that'll happen - A 9-car 185 each of 3 coaches won't match the capacity of a 159 of the same length. The proposed 12-car battery 450's preferably with 2+2 table seating is the answer!

    Two new open-access cross-country proposals

It'll be interesting to know what stock is going to be used. 125mph is ideal for south of Swindon and north of Bedford.

Future for Class 180 Adelante fleets

Very sensible idea as they have 125mph top speed too as well as 5 coaches. If First Class was declassified on all these then you've close to the capacity of Standard Class on an 80x. If they did then they should be based at St Philips Marsh as if or when one fails in Cardiff or Exeter then the...

    Scottish Citylink

I'm interested to know why the similar Megabus doesn't allow a 30-minute stretch on their services yet their journeys are longer than the new 912.

    Scottish Citylink

I would hope that the waiting times at Inverness are enough for passengers to have a stretch providing there's no big delay.

    XC Voyager Refurbishment

There's a simple answer to that - terminate at York in the day. Or in alternative hours, run a 5-car Voyager instead. Passengers don't want booked 4-car Voyagers on busy routes.
