    Chesham Underground permanent closure?

A few decades ago i believe that there was a proposal to close the existing station and build a replacement on Chesham Moor. Funds were found to repair the bridges across the river Chess and Waterside instead. I don't know know of any proposal to close the branch entirely. There have been the...

    The 2024 London Mayoral Election

Following comments on social media it's disturbing to see how many voters don't understand what the Mayor is responsible for and what the boroughs are responsible for. LTNs being a prime example.

Secure Overnight Bike Parking - EUS or KGX

Lots of stations have cycle racks on the platforms.

People buying houses with associated noise (churches, railways etc) and then complaining about the noise?

I realised long ago that there is a disturbingly large minority of people who will go out of their way to be inconvenienced or offended so that they can get "15 minutes of fame" from their complaints.

Return trip to Braintree from Birmingham -connection times.

Unless there has been some serious rebuilding since I was last at Euston there are entrances to Euston Square on both sides of Euston Road. You do need to cross one side road but the station will already be visible at that point.

    Will we see motorail return?

I can see attractions from the user point of view. I would tather load my car up somewhere north of the Thames and drive off in the sun but Calais is a good second best. I doubt if an operator could do it at a competitive price. There are journeys in GB where I would rather use the train but...

People buying houses with associated noise (churches, railways etc) and then complaining about the noise?

My late mother in law moved into a nice quiet cul-de-sac which lead to a footpath. Only at 11:30 on a Saturday night was it obvious that it was a popular short cut from the town centre pubs to rather a lot of housing.

A scam phone calls and emails discussion.

I have had two legit calls from their fraud team over the last couple of decades. Always hung up cleared the line and called back. Silly thing is that in the distant past the phone banking team asked me to provide a password for them to use when calling me. When I asked the security team for...

People buying houses with associated noise (churches, railways etc) and then complaining about the noise?

I used to volunteer at an arts centre and there was a steady trickle of silly complaints. Best was the guy who picked up a hirer's leaflet and called the police to complain about every gig listed. When they phoned about the one that had been cancelled the attending officers had "words".

Could the railways be renationalised under Labour and what should happen in the meantime?

Even more so if you need another travel mode to reach the station. A cab to the station costs me the same as driving 48 miles. More if I can stop at a cheap supermarket.

That doesn't change the issue over which operators are reimbursed for acceptance.

Disc, voucher and meter parking zones

I have a Scarborough DC disc which I obtained (free) when the scheme was implemented in Whitby. Discs and vouchers were used in the same zones for shirt/medium stay and long term parking respectively. Whitby, of course, has many old style boarding houses with no off street parking. Typically the...
