    Girona to Perpignan

Not sure at what time you'll be arriving, I just checked Google Maps and this evening it looks like there's only one bus at 20:50, other than that there are a few buses direct to Barcelona and Lloret de Mar as well as an ALSA bus to Paris at 22:00 which also stops in Perpignan at 23:30. The...

    Girona to Perpignan

Just saw this topic, and I flew into Girona on a Saturday in January. When I arrived I found out that the city bus didn't run on Saturday and Sunday and that only infrequent long distance buses remained, of which only a few went to Girona itself. The bus fare was the same, to be paid in cash to...

Germany - Poland local fare tariffs

When I took the KD train from Wroclaw to Forst (Lausitz) the conductor simply sold me a ticket to Zasieki, and apparently didn't bother about the part from Zasieki to the border.

Trains that call at two stations with the same name.

For me the first one that comes to mind is the Amtrak Maple Leaf calling in Niagara Falls, NY and in Niagara Falls, ON right after crossing the US-Canada border.

Riga to Tartu - Valga Connections

In the worst case you end up with 2 hours in Valga and the same train you would've caught otherwise, but you'll likely make it. You can just buy the tickets from Valga to Tartu on board with the guard, the prices stay the same and the guard takes cash and card.

Riga to Tartu - Valga Connections

When I took that 09:26 train it arrived on time and it was an easy cross-platform connection onwards to Tartu. I'm not sure whether they would wait though if the Latvian train is late, but I had the feeling that the connection was made to work. The 11:26 train is worked by a PESA unit from the...

Advice for a Swiss mountain itinerary

Sometimes I've found Mulhouse in France useful to stay at, there's a pretty frequent train service there from Basel (some of which are operated with the superb and very comfortable Corail coaches). The B&B hotel there is often very affordable, there are some Ibis and Ibis Budget hotels too...

The use of tokens as public transport payment.

Some metro systems in South Korea still used tokens when I went there in November 2023.

    DR1 units in Latvia.

Would love to as I have a trip to the Baltic area planned in March but I don't think the Belarussians would be too keen on the Ukrainian stamps in my passport...

    DR1 units in Latvia.

That's a shame, gotta travel a bit further then!

    DR1 units in Latvia.

Are the RVR ER2 units now completely gone? Or do they still run some services?

    Booking FIP reservations in advance

The best resource I know is the Travel Tips for Europe document by RDG which is still being updated quite regularly. It can be found on this page: https://www.raildeliverygroup.com/rst/where-can-i-go.html There's even a quite extensive Guide for visitors to Britain using FIP facilities as well...

    Booking FIP reservations in advance

Maybe thats the difference between full fare 2nd class and full fare 1st class? Anyway, you can always phone SNCF for a quote on how much it would cost. The telephone number is +33 1 84 94 36 35 • At the end of the menu options presented in French, there is the option to connect to an...

    Booking FIP reservations in advance

SNCF charges much more for international TGV journeys than it does for domestic ones. Domestic journeys are like 2 euros or 10 euros depending on whether the train is classified as a peak or off-peak train (but it seemed to correlate with the Interrail reservation fees which is 10 euros or 20...

    Booking FIP reservations in advance

Keep in mind if you already know which TGV you're going to be travelling on from Paris to Barcelona (which you probably do as you've already booked the flight), then it's almost definitely going to be cheaper to buy a regular ticket for that train as soon as tickets become available, as the FIP...
