Closer to home the better of course. But not everyone can be that lucky. When I first started I had a 56 minute commute on a 8hr shift pattern and that’s if there was no road closures or diversions along the motorway. But there were no other vacancies closer to home. I now work a signal box 10...

Driffield is grade 3, Beverley grade 4 and Hessle road and hull paragon are grade 5’s :) I was also hired as a grade 2 then during/after signalling school you just apply for whatever roles are available. The minimum grade for a signaller is grade 3 in this area. Grade 2 is crossing boxes :)

    A career as a signaller

Great thank you, what do you think the chances are of a LOM authorising you going from a full time signaller to a job share? I guess they’d prefer not to.

Hi everyone. Just out of curiosity has it ever been known for there to be a signalling role part time or as a job share at all? Or is that a big no no. Doesn’t seem to be a thing?

I personally drove. I found it easier as then I could leave home at whatever time suited me on the Sunday and come home whenever too. Nothing ever got mentioned to me about this not being preferred. You can claim back your mileage too

I got mine mid week the week before I was due to start signalling school on the Monday. So I wouldn’t worry just yet

Hey, I don’t know if your the same as me but when I was recruited on future oppurtunities my contract said Knottingley SB which doesn’t exist anymore. When I asked my LOM it was just down as a base for the purpose of hiring and creating a contract of employment with no intention of ever working...
