Yes, that is the case. In fact, when I used the service a few weeks ago the driver seem pleased and slightly surprised to be presented with a ready-bought ticket, so I don't think many people avail themselves of the facility.
Gefco do or did have quite a sizeable trailer fleet and I believe they had a few containers and swapbodies in their fleet, so it's plausible. Racking my brains to think of any other current operators beginning with 'G'.

Only slightly larger and Caernarfon is much more of a tourist draw as well as being a bit of an administrative centre for the region. Ferries would only come into it the odd few times a day when they run and in any case rail/sea traffic must be pretty minimal in the era of low-cost flights...
