Different rail stations but sharing the same platform?

You could have three trains in the platforms (Victoria 11, 11 Middle and Exchange 3) leaving simultaneously. No trains left Victoria and stopped in Exchange, at least not on purpose. Signal diagrams from 1929 resignalling: https://www.ekeving.se/ext/uk/VicEx_Manchester/plan2.jpg (Exchange)...

Manchester Oxford Road Station Remodelling Scheme consultation: what do you think should happen?

Sling a footway to the north wall of the viaduct from Oxford Road to Deansgate. Like the Runcorn railway bridge used to have.

Manchester Oxford Road Station Remodelling Scheme consultation: what do you think should happen?

Is there any consideration of which TOC has caused delay, and which TOCs will pay / get compensation for delays - or is it just managed on the projected best outcome for timekeeping overall? (I'm thinking back to early days of privatisation when TOCs running class 2 trains started asking why...

Manchester Oxford Road Station Remodelling Scheme consultation: what do you think should happen?

I can't see it makes much difference. Up train arrives in platform 4 now, down train leaves platform 5 and is clear of the junction before the up train has finished getting passengers off and on. And without having passengers cross a bridge. Limited to 4 cars though. Overall, leaving two...

Proposed new Liverpool & Manchester Railway

https://www.placenorthwest.co.uk/northern-rail-update-17bn-manchester-liverpool-link-in-doubt-avanti-keeps-contract/ And that sounds like before they looked at the business case. Some spin in there too. "Plans for the rail link would cut travel times between the two cities by more than half"...

ASLEF - LNER drivers to strike every Sat & Sun for 3 months from 31 Aug - Now called off

Other work settings have similar issues. Other than in industrial areas, most fire & rescue services cover large areas with "on call" crews, especially at night, who have to live close to the fire station. But individuals can sign as available or not, and the system is breaking down a bit. Let's...

ASLEF - LNER drivers to strike every Sat & Sun for 3 months from 31 Aug - Now called off

The very people? I imagine she's just hoping some of the present TOC managers aren't covered by TUPE.

ASLEF - LNER drivers to strike every Sat & Sun for 3 months from 31 Aug - Now called off

What was the ballot question? And presumbly most drivers voted before the pay deal was announced.

    Avanti stopping patterns

Given the line capacity issues on the WCML it seems odd to use low capacity trains.

    Avanti stopping patterns

What length trains is Avanti going to run calling at South Parkway (designed for 6 coach maximum)?

It was a bit pointless. It might have helped if you had read the thread, or at least the original post.

Proposed new Liverpool & Manchester Railway

I'd be more interested in where that came from. It might have been what TfN wanted for NPR but that was thrown out in the (Dis)Integrated Rail Plan for just new line between Warrington and Marsden leaving Liverpool to Warrington on the existing route via Ditton Junction and Fiddlers Ferry. All...

Proposed new Liverpool & Manchester Railway

And you've seen this new alignment? But it doesn't go anywhere near Rainhill Stoops, which liverbird1 imagined.

Proposed new Liverpool & Manchester Railway

Oh yes it is. Do you mean HS2 via the Bamfurlong link? That's long off the plans. And at the moment Manchester hasn't got a high speed link anywhere, north south east or west.
